I see a lot of post about mods or upgrades and so many people change from the factory floor mats. I think the factory mats are nice so I’m just curious as to what I am missing. Thanks

Depends on where you live, they can get trashed easy...rubber floormats are easier to clean

You must not wear cowboy boots. Those will rip through a factory mat within a year.

The Husky Weatherbeaters or Weathertech mats are also bowls that catch anything and everything on your feet and are easy to clean. Win/win.

I can’t speak specifically to 3rd gens, but I can tell for my 2nd gen, the factory “all weather floormats” are basically a rubber version of a normal floor mat. Where as weather tech ones are a larger floor mat moulded to the shape of the floor that contains muck and water/snow/sleet significantly better and doesn’t just let everything run off of it onto the truck’s carpet

Rubber mats are easy. Hose them down, let them dry a little bit, and back in business. My work boots were starting to rub through the carpet mat within 6 months, so they had to go.

The factory mats are rubber. I get replacing them when they have holes or rips but I see them practically new for sale a lot. Maybe it’s like a foot print gas pedal thing but modern.

My factory rubber floormats so far are bullet proof. As far as I can tell anyway. No sense in replacing them.

If you are talking about the rubber mats, I'm not sure. But my factory carpet mats were low quality. They did have some good locking tabs to hold them in place though.

I had the OEM mats for a while until they wore out and replaced them.

I’ve got a teenager, so I went with weathertechs. They’ve paid for themselves already with stuff he’s spilled.

I have used the factory rubber floor mats since new. 2 and a half years now. I just had them out to vacuum and clean them. I found at the bottom of the letter 'T' that there is a split. So now water and sand are getting under the mat and into the carpet. Time to look at Husky or Weathertech. The other reason to change is for the mat coverage over the rear driveline hump. The factory mats don't cover that area and my daughter is making a mess of it. Needs protection before she inflicts permanent damage.

Get a wife that wears heels and stilletos and you'll go through OEM mats like toilet paper at walmart during a pandemic..

If they work for you, that's fantastic. Keep em. I upgraded because with weather around here and not always having the option of cleaning boots off before entering, I wanted the option to clean the rubber mats. Did weathertech as they seemed to offer more protection

    Because this.

My work boots made short work of the inferior OEM rubber.

The OEM mats don't hold all the dirt, snow and water in. I have been using Husky All Weather Floor Liners for years. They work great and 1/2 the price of Weather Tech. Yeah, I live in the Adirondacks.

I went with weathertech, I hunt and fish and get dirty while doing those things so it just makes sense. Their warranty and customer service is awesome as well

My truck did not come with any floormats. I ordered the weathertechs and moved on to other things.

The Yeti and floormats in my neighbors Raptor are so much better than the RTIC and OEM ones in my tacoma. Much easier to enjoy your monster energy drink on wheels when you got the good stuff
