Why do ppl put 4x4 stickers / decals on ..

I've asked the question about why people false-badge before, and I can't seem to ever get an answer beyond people being allowed to do what they want with their vehicle (which is true).

But what I'm curious about is the actual mindset behind why people false badge.

 

Right, but that doesn't answer the question. I don't think anyone is saying that they CAN'T do it. The question is just WHY do they do it.

 

Obviously some of us do, to the extent of curiosity, or we wouldn't be asking. There is nothing wrong with wondering what the mindset is behind something.

 

Because it represents is the car / truck that they really wanted to buy but didn't, for whatever reason. I'm not sure if they think they are fooling others or not, but it gives the owners some sense of satisfaction. If it has 4x4, M, AMG, 5.0, etc. stickers / badges on it, the person driving it is probably getting the same use out of it if they would have the real versions?

Personally, I don't like advertising and clutter, so I do the opposite and debadge.

It's the dream man. Truth be known, most people dream of going on an adventure but life (money, responsibilities, health, etc) gets in the way. Some people want to travel the world to exotic places. Some want to climb Mt. Everest. Some want to race up Pike's Peak in a prototype. Some want to blaze new trails through the Amazon. Get it?

Some people buy Nike basketball shoes and they are 5'5" tall and weigh 300 lbs and don't have an athletic bone in their body. Yet, when they are watching that big game, they "dream" of being out on the court with Lebron.

Back to the current issue: Some people, while knowing they will probably never ever go tackle the toughest trails, fix up their vehicle to "look" like they could tackle the Rubicon. Or at least a rough facsimile of a truck that could do it. Never mind they have a hard time dropping that Twinkie and getting off the couch and going to the mall. In their mind, fixing up their truck (including decals) gives them an "image" that they are rough and tough and can go anywhere and do anything. Truth be known, a lot of people here are like this. Personally, I have no problem with it. People can do what they want as long as they don't hurt someone.

Everyone has dreams.

 

I don't give a crap what other people do with their stuff.

It's their stuff and they can do as they like.

How about this. Who cares? Maybe they like it. The same way people like ranch on their pizza. Not for me, but who gives a shit. That’s all anyone needs to know. If it bothers anyone, that’s their problem that they’re spending time out of their own lives to care about something so insignificant. It actually says more about the person asking the question than the person putting the 4x4 badge on their truck.

 

Who's? There is no comparison to a grille that happens to be on the Pro that says TOYOTA on it, and false badging.
