DFW driving is insane. It really got bad as smart phone use became prevalent. Forced me to sell my Harley and other motorcycles.

I used to be a havoc creator. I have definitely slowed down. Even in the vette.

Mine are always on when I leave the garage and they take a long time to go off after I pull out.

I am corrected, but they are not very bright and really, I would not depend on them and it really is not what I would call DRL, at least not compared to my Gen 1.

Seriously, I have been on the internet since Al Gore invented it, and I have never seen a forum (short of Bussey Knives) where everyone is expected to do what ever some poster finds acceptable. If it makes yall feel better, I'll turn my lights off during the day, god forbid folks get their panties in a wad over this shit. LOL

You're reading into this too much. Nobody's panties are in a wad, just like I was not bothered by anything when you said I was.

Your DRL is as bright as your turn signal so if you aren't happy with the DRL, then you aren't happy with the turn signal either...looking at them straight on when I approach other Tacomas they are always plenty visible in my eyes. More visible than headlights that are projecting at the ground.

If I am reading too much in to this, why are you telling me what I have done since the late 70's is wrong. LOL

DRL was not a thing in the 70's, 80's, barely the 90s.....and nobody said you are "wrong", but from the front end of the car any DRL is typically brighter than the headlights. On cars that actually use their headlights as DRL, the majority of them run the high beam at reduced voltage, so that you get the bright pattern and visibility without blinding people from the high power of the bulb.

The only thing DRL does not do is project light to the rear, obviously. So if you really insist on tail lights being on, then DRL doesn't work for that but I still see no point to the tail lights being on during the day. In the sun you can't really see them at all. I'd rather the DRL be on up front than actual lights be on all the way around the vehicle, during the day. Still, nobody said you are wrong. You are reading into that too.

I like to drive during daylight hours with driving lights and fog lights on for increased visibility. When I rode a street bike, I always had high beams on during daylight hours for increased visibility.

This like me asking, why people wear underwear. As I have heard in riding motorcycles, you ride your motorcycle, I'll ride mine.

This is a preference, I see no harm, if the headlights are dimmer than the amber lights, then it should not affect other drivers. No offense, but look up anal retentive. I dont know how to say it in any other way that you will accept. You do you, I do me.

I am not one of those that regularly drive around with their headlights on in the sunlight but I do have an SR5 with amber DRLs and I can guarantee that the headlights are significantly brighter even if they are "pointing at the ground".

Are you comparing when the headlights are on?

Yes, the headlights are obviously brighter when they are on than when they are off.

I don’t think you get what I’m getting at. The “DRL” is when headlights are off. They dim down to parking lamps when headlights are on. So comparing them when headlights are on is not correct. Go drive up against a window and compare the ambers when headlights are off with headlights when they’re on. I believe the ambers are brighter from a daytime appearance perspective.

I'm just funnin' with ya a little.:D. I knew what you meant. You believe the parking lights are dimmer than the DRLs but I have tested that and they are not. Regardless, the headlights are still much brighter than the DRLs.

Driving around with the headlights on will reduce your gas milage. All halogen and incandescent bulbs burn fuel when illuminated.
