Reliable is such a loose term. The 6.2 platform had its issues as well. My mid travel 2011 F150 5.0 had problems. I’m sure I’ll encounter problems with my Tacoma as well.

According to the video both have 600HP @Tacoaric. A stock 2017 Raptor has 450HP. Ford dropped 500 pounds off the new model, so with the same power the lighter one will likely win. But 600HP isn't stock in any Raptor.

Neither is a supercharged 6.2.... lol. I just got rid of my new body F150, and I’ve had the previous gen in 5.0 V8 spec as well as dailying a buddy’s 6.2 raptor.

I kinda wish Dodge would make some kind of monster using the 707 hp Hellcat motor. That would be a proper drivetrain for a truck.

They have the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the Hellcat in it. Not a truck, but a wicked fast SUV.

YouTube can get extra careless with the numbers, but Roush is claiming 590 hp and lb/ft for the S/C stage 2 6.2. Those numbers can be somewhat inflated too. Id be curious to know what those trucks in the video really had. 500 pounds isn't nothing, and maybe the new 10 speed can get those numbers to the ground better. Who knows. And like I said, I'm not spending the money to find out. If I was buying 600 horses it wouldn't be in a truck.

This is exactly my skepticism with Honda's new lineup. The CRV went from a solid 2.4L basically bulletproof motor, to a high compression little 1.5L turbo. No way the little turbo engine will be as reliable in the long run.

I just sold off my 800hp F250. It was unmanageable. Could roast off 37s at 60mph

Not going to read through all the nonsense. Tacoma’s were always underpowered, now say the 3.5 goes to 500,000 or beyond then all the complainers will have nothing to say. My truck has been a lot smoother running then any 1st, or 2nd generation I owned, and if they figured out how to make the frame last as long as the rest of the truck it will be close to perfect for me.

You shouldn't buy things you can't afford to maintain. This is why high end AMG values plummet.

I agree. I still think a 6 cylinder being force fed its diet to compensate for lack of displacement is....fucking stupid.

That's why the value of all Benzes plummet.

A guy I know bought a used 2010 C300 4MATIC in like 2015 or so, certified preowned from a local Benz dealer. Paid like $10,000-$12,000 for it. He described it as an "emotional purchase" which he very quickly came to regret. The car was reliable, but it was a money pit.

I know a guy who works in the parts department at the same Benz dealer and he says the reason Benzes depreciate so rapidly is because the typical buyer gets a new one every 2-4 years, and then more entry-level customers buy them used thinking they are getting a great deal, but they realize they screwed up when they get the bill for that first oil change or brake job under their ownership...

This is why my dad got rid of a BMW 3-Series convertible he absolutely loved after just over 2 years...

It was a 2002 BMW 325Ci, and it was a great car, but routine maintenance was just so damn expensive. Oil changes, brakes, all that shit...

We had three cars at the time (between 2006 and 2008); a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX, a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder SE, and the Beemer. We'd had the Pathfinder since new, but it was just our third vehicle at that point and was starting to show its age. My dad loved having a convertible, but when you have a soft top you get wind noise even when its up. The BMW was originally from Florida (purchased new by his older brother who lives there), so one of the few options it did not have was heated seats, and that's one feature my dad loves having. He traded the BMW for a brand new 2008 Acura TL in August 2008. One of my biggest complaints about the BMW was that it did not have an iPod hookup. Our Honda Odyssey at least had a tape deck so I could play my iPod through the tape deck. That BMW had the Harman/Kardon stereo, so it kicked ass, but it only had a CD player and no AUX. I bugged my dad to put in a head unit with an iPod hookup, but he ended up just getting a whole new car. The Acura had a tape deck, a 6-CD changer, and an AUX input!

My dad bought the BMW about 6 months after I got my learner's permit, so I took many driving lessons with my parents in it, and I loved it. The BMW replaced a 2003 Honda S2000, which my dad refused to let me drive because (1) He thought it was too much car for a 16-year old boy and (2) I couldn't drive a stick shift at the time. Th BMW had an automatic transmission...

The Pathfinder ended up getting traded for the Tacoma, which my dad ended up just giving to me...

When my dad was younger, he did do maintenance himself. When I Was 3 years old I helped him change the oil in his 1992 Dodge Dakota. Then he got older, and busier at work, and preferred to have a mechanic do it.

I'm not going to be like my dad.

My ultimate goal is to own a Rolls-Royce Camargue one day, and I plan on doing as much as I can by myself in terms of basic maintenance. A Rolls-Royce expert I used to chat with online has one useful piece of advice when it comes to these cars...

    "Just read the bloody handbook!"

Everybody knows what a Rolls-Royce is, but very few people aside from enthusiasts (and the British) can get the specific models straight...

This is a Camargue in case you didn't know...

That's a Jaguar (badged a Daimler in the UK). Pre-BMW Rolls-Royces actually have among the best braking systems in the world.

So am I, but I connected with this guy on a website called ExoticSpotter.com, who at one time held triple citizenship (Hong Kong and UK due to being born to a British mother and "Eurasian" Hong Kong father in HK, and American because his mom remarried an American diplomat). He is considered one of the foremost experts on postwar Rolls-Royces, and just about everything I know I learned from him. As a result, I have a bit more knowledge of (and respect for) Rolls-Royce motorcars than the typical American...
