Didn't see mention of any particular model, but I think most of you are talking V6 mileage. I have an '08 extended with the 4 cylinder (don't ask) and I averaged 24 pulling a 5x10 trailer with a 700lb Harley on it from New York to Ohio and back.

I've owned 3 full sized trucks and they all got between 12-15 mpg. I think that's less than a V6 Tacoma. My 1995 Chevy with a 350 got 10 mpg towing my Bayliner. I did get 18 mpg hwy with my 2004 Silverado 5.3, but it averaged about 15 in mixed driving. I have a 2.7l Tacoma, so it's not fair of me to compare it to those trucks.

I won't even mention my 1995 F150 5.0 mileage. Let's just say it's a good thing it had dual tanks.

I get 18.6 mpg on average, with a lead foot and and empty truck. My dad's '04 hemi 1500 got 8mpg with a tail wind and the engine idling. I fail to see how we get the same mpg as a full sized truck.:notsure:

I usually get 16-17 mpg with a 3" lift and 33"s, but if i can keep it under 2K rpms I can get about 20 mpg. And my flowmaster is definitely not helping me because I like to hear my truck:D

I get 19mpg highway pulling an empty utility trailer. A big 6x12 covered and fully loaded I get 12mpg though. putting stuff in the bed always seems to be the better option. Any V6 4x4 that gets over 20 pulling a trailer seems fishy to me. Somebody made a math error

    Another day, another MPG thread.

    I consistently get 18city/23hwy.

I'm sure I've said that numerous times...

Here is the (obvious for most items) mileage killers:
treadier or bigger than stock tires
    lift kits
speed/speeding oregon is 65mph on freeway, other states 75mph, that can be 2 MPG
erratic speed, could be hills or traffic, not a blame
torquier gears... 4.56 vs stock 4.1 or whatever
racks, skis, bikes, basketball size trucksticles dangling, tow mirrors even light bars
and perhaps 1/2 of the performance mods

none of these are a blame or wrong , but they add up real fast.

No comparison to a full size.I've owned nothing but full size until I bought this Taco and I get 11 mpg in my 03 F-250 with the V-10 and over 20 with mostly freeway driving with the V6 in the taco.

I'm using fuelly.com to keep track & give me legitimate MPG. My last tank was a dismal 17.9. But I just cleaned my throttle body for the 1st time, this past tank of gas. So hopefully it will be much better this next tank full.

Oh & I consistently speed. Well I do live in Atlanta; The GA autobahn. 80 is the norm for traffic on the expressway. And still you get passed.

I'm assuming most people on this forum realized they were buying a truck before they did so?

I have no idea what mileage I get with my Taco. I really don't care either. I get enough. I don't have to fill it up daily, and that's about all I require. I'm willing to sacrifice the rest to have such an awesome truck.

I'm looking to kill my mileage even further in the future with gears and headers.

Gas sipping is what the Matrix is for.
