Funny you say that, I’m trading the bed and topper for a regular bed and topper next week. Thing is too damn small to fit anything in. Going to be building a sleeping setup in the back, and in the future getting a Four Wheel Camper. Thanks for the compliments! Bumper is Trail Gear.

Totally understand! I like the rare aspect of the sport-side but like you are saying I appreciate the room of the full size bed. I have a topper and sleep in the back every once in a while on camping trips. Plenty of room for 2 albeit cozy!

Because I can't afford a new truck and I am attached to mine. 370,000 original miles on same motor and transmission.

It's exactly what I wanted,,, size wise, 4cyl., 5speed, manual hubs, 4wd. I use it as a grocery getter, in my lot next door to my house to move my trailers around. Put in 4lo without locking the hubs and it just crawls around pulling my 16ft. trailer, perfect.
I wish it was a "little" bigger in the extended cab area for my small tools, but it gets the job done.

because while cruising the freeway i can comfortably rest my left elbow on the window sill with left hand gripping the wheel to maintain control and right hand rowing the gears

i tried doing this in a 2nd gen and wow did my neck and shoulder start to kink up real quick, i suppose it would be the same way in a 3rd gen, uncomfortable AF!! for the way I am accustomed to handling my tacoma for 23 years next month

if i have mentioned this previously in this topic my bad!!
but it definitely is one personal reason to re-iterate

disclaimer: if you are a taller than average person this situation may be different for you

Sold it a few years ago because I had no need for 2 Tacomas and I didn't want to pay out of pocket to have it shipped 3,000 miles.

    Stupidity on my part.

Previously had an '88 4 cylinder 5 speed. It was a great truck, but a bit underpowered for trips due north (had to drive the grapevine or the grade to Mammoth). It needed a clutch at 175K miles, but very reliable. I needed a newer truck, one with a bit more power and a slush box (lots of stop and go freeway driving in So Cal). So, I upgraded to an '04 3.4L automatic. I learned that the '05 extra cab was going to be a little bit longer than the '04. The length of the '04 would barely fit in my one car garage. So, I bought the '04 knowing that the version I wanted would fit. Only 1 issue, a recall on the power steering pump. Otherwise, bullet proof. It can handle the steep grades without overheating. Fantastic car!!
