The venza I drove had an automatic and no cruise control problems. Or is someone just being showy cause we all know manual transmission are superior :burnrubber:

In the 6 speeds once your above 40 you don't have to downshift for hills. 35 you might depending on the incline 30 you got to. 30 in sixth up a hill you're gonna roll back down if ya don't hit 5th

Works just fine in my 5.7 Sequoia . In my 4.0 Taco it's a bit twitchy when engaging . It likes to accelerate the last 15 kph rather abruptly . I tend to use the resume when I'm closer to the speed I have it set at.

Was not happy with cruise in my 2009 6-speed. In Nov 2015 had headlight/DRL replacement, and they also did the TSB on "unintended throttle/acceleration", which was a software update. Improved cruise tremendously, it now smoothly adds more throttle uphill rather than the previous abrupt throttle increase.

Well that, and the fact that you have a manual so of course you have no problem.

I have too but does not mean the Tacoma is not under powered. New Volvo is case in point. Over 300 hp and 295 lbs of torque and better MPGs

Ford 350 diesel truck 400+ HP and 800 ft pounds of torque (is that enough power?) it down shifts going up hills in cruse. This is one I drive often it is not as obvious as the Taco but it also is twice as heavy and a 6 spd. When did Volvo building small trucks?

It's pretty heavy but you would never know it, lugs around 20,000# like it's not there. It's not my truck so I can't give you the specs only what the owner has told me it's over 400 HP and the torque is in 800 F.P range with a 6 spd automatic 4 door 4X4 and weights around 8300#. Nice truck but way too big for me.

Holy mother of God I've stumbled across the soft white underbelly of the interior decorator nancy boy section of Taco World, it's a f%$#ing midsized truck FFS, the cruise control works fine, waaa waaaa it's 2-3 mph variable when going up/down hills waaaa, Jaysus wept, my next door neighbor dresses up like a woman and sings for a living and he's got more sack than half the posters in this thread, and he waxes and gets mani/pedis for crying out loud.

I've found that my Taco's cruise control works best with some weight in the bed. Makes sense, being a truck and all.

After installing headers on my 4 cylinder. It's a completely different truck!

For what it's worth...I drive a ton for work, like 700-1000 miles/week, primarily on interstates in TN. When I run 87 octane I don't use the cruise control because of the constant down shifting, but 93 octane is a HUGE improvement for whatever reason.

I have never owned a Tacoma with a manuel, but have had many other vehicles. On interstates the cruise was fine, but I hated it if there was any hills. Since the tranny couldn't downshift it would struggle to maintain speed, and start to decelerate a ton. Then you need to shift it down accelerate back to speed, upshift and reset the cruise. Gets old on the windy hilly highway I drive quite a bit.
With the auto, I set the cruise when I get on, and don't touch anything till I hit the brakes to exit. I am ok letting the truck downshift for hills and fluctuations of 2-3 mph.
