Careful. He has a thug avatar and a permanent excuse/lie opening statement for a screen name.

He's got bad internet juju. But forgets who built that for him to play on.

Not to mention he can't even spell his job title right. "Electrition":rofl::rofl:

After 30+ in the electric utility world, that sounds more like a code for the apprentices helper. AKA 'grunt'. :D

I think you miss the point.... 1 foot shorter bed isn't going to make a 15' kayak fit drastically worse.

There are very few things that fit in a LB that won't fit in a SB. Most things that are "too big" require extenders, racks or trailers in either case. I'll never fit a mower, or want to lift a washer / dryer / water heater / AC unit into my bed. I'll always use a trailer for that regardless of my bed size because they're too large or too heavy to lift.

4 kayaks, a bunch of beer, a fire ring and fire wood? Would have had to use a trailer anyway.

2 kayaks, luggage and a cooler? Would have had to use a rack / hitch extender anyway.

Zero-turn mower (lol), of course that wouldn't fit in any tacoma bed because of the width.

Doing some landscaping? Mulch and a small shed... nope, still need a trailer.

Taking a load of construction garbage to the dump? Ooh, almost, but still need a trailer.

Maybe a bed full of water softener salt? Nope... long bed wouldn't help me fit any more unless it gives you another 300 lbs payload. I was on the bumpstops before I even hit our rated payload of 1,000 lbs.

Dana 60 crate axles... still too much payload and too heavy to lift into a bed. Too wide to go side by side anyway. Needed the trailer still.

Surprisingly many things do fit in a SB... (5) 40" tires, a truck-load of Jeep steel armor (which fits "fine" with the tailgate down, but wouldn't fit with either the SB or LB tailgate up. So again, no effective difference between the two.

Only once did I have something in my long-bed that would not have fit in the short bed... a very long extension ladder that was so well balanced that it teetered (and had to be strapped down in the long-bed. I have since carried it with the kayak-carrying hitch extender in the short-bed and it works fine.

Also there's a huge benefit of being able to do stuff like this with a hitch-extension. We built it with this use-case in mind. The tailgate still clears it just fine while its in place.

My point? Get the long-bed if you think you really want it. But don't think that you NEED it for your use case. The 1' will not drastically change the capability of what you can do you with your truck. We're still mostly limited by the suspension of these trucks or the width of the box when it comes to large loads in these trucks. If you can't find a long bed in your area, maybe a short bed would be just as useful... it has been just as useful for me 99% of the time.

Quite frankly I'll probably end up with an SUV next, because even with a truck bed I find I need a trailer or rack system far more often than I would like, and I'd rather have that interior space be usable for truly dry storage or seating. Shit, we have the wheelbase of a Chevy Suburban, I'd much rather have a V8, a 3rd row and still carry stuff with a trailer when needed.

He could be already kayaking by the time he got it all cinched down.. I could see a window getting smashed out. JK, not a bad option.
    She's cute.

Yep your truck is getting trucked, about as much as a truck can get trucked.

Spruce Mica, wish I'd gotten one.

Me too... 3rd gens would have been beautiful in this color. There was a photoshop floating around at one point, but it's now missing. I think it was pulled down when people realized this color wouldn't be offered for the 3rd gens.
