Why does my truck unlock?

I hit the lock button on the door as I exit the truck. I close the door and the I hear a 3 to 5 second beep then the truck unlocks automatically.

Same thing happens when I try to lock the door after I close it and hit the touch lock on the door handle. It locks then beeps then the unlock.

Then sometimes it works fine. Is it the alarm the dealer installed?

 

Mine does not do this.

 

Are you getting your hand inside the handle at all when you shut or lock it? I have to use a finger to lock it, otherwise the sensors pick up my hand and unlock it.

 

Is there another Key fob inside of the truck? If so, that will keep it from locking.

 

This. Hate to admit this but it happened to me with our Camry a couple weeks ago. She left the key fob in the console for me and I was unaware of it. Car did exactly what the OP described in his post.

 

Exactly what I was going to say. Maybe you left the spare in the truck?

 

I am fairly certain it does this of a door is open as well. I know it does an my wife's corolla at least

 

My drivers door does this intermittently, I’m fairly certain it’s the door handle/solenoid. Have you watched the physical lock on the door? Mine wigs out when I lock it then finally beeps when it can’t get the drivers door to lock.

If you go through the passenger door and manually lock the drivers door then get out and use the fob to lock the truck it should work.

 

I have too look and see where I put my second key fob.

It’s a brand new truck. Just coming up on my second week. It unlocks on its own when I press the lock from inside the door or try to lock it from thump on top of handle ridges.

It also beeps when I try to lock and I have one of the other doors open.

 

Check the glove box owners manual, spare fob may have been placed in the owners manual pouch.

Or you could try to start it without the key, will tell you instantly a key is inside somewhere.

 

If it’s a smart key
Just get in the tuck and try to start it.
If it starts you know it’s in there somewhere. Lol

This is normal.

 

I believe it does not even let you lock when the second key in the truck. Warning screen comes up

 

Not going out to try but I don’t think you can use the remote to lock the truck If the remote is inside also. Not 100% on that though.

So if that’s the case, then the only potential issue for the OP is the unlocking. All others are normal. Of course that’s pending no second fob in the truck or accidental unlocking.

 

Make sure it’s not because you have certain devices plugged into cigarette lighter per my post here

 

The other Key fob is inside of the truck, somewhere, hiding, is my guess.
