T-bolt hose clamps, if you want to spend some coin and want nothing but the best.

Interesting how split people are on this topic. I like the idea that with screw clamp you can torque to a desired specification. Spring clamps don't have an easy way to know or measure the tension (specifically if they have lost tension). I agree auto manufactures have been using spring clamps for many years, but I don't think Toyota builds automobiles with backyard mechanics in mind. I believe they would choose it either for cost or superior engineering advantages. So if spring clamps provide even clamping force, I'd just like to understand how they do this better than a screw clamp.

I might have leaned towards the engineering side back in the 22R era, but now I'm leaning towards the cost side.

now, this is the kind of advanced scrutiny that some trolls on this website take offense to (as they are unable to explain it) and they'll say why are you asking questions if you won't accept an answer -- but you're only scrutinizing the validity of knowledge that the answer is based upon. i wish i knew the name for that logical fallacy, i'm sure there is one.

    Depends on application.

Like stated above you see spring clamps on the radiator due to heat and expansion and contraction. (My old chevy truck had a plastic capped radiator that would swell so much under WOT it was actually scary) And its because of this spring clamps are used in these locations.

Tbolt clamps are a better alternative than screw type clamps cus they are smooth on the inside and provide a more positive attachment and slightly better evenly distributed clamping force. That stated for an application like a radiator neck that expands and contracts, i wouldnt use them... they are more at home in an intake setup thats force induction where you DONT want them to expand at all.

Isn't the air filter mounted on the throttle body using one of those T-bolt clamps (or something like) ?

HOLY CRAP once again foampile knows MORE than the engineers at Toyota who get paid to actually do the physics and
calculations to design a working, modern automobile, that lasts

did you hear the one about Toyota provided extra unneeded studs on a timing chain cover

thank our rosy red asses we have foampile to save us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you said you wouldn't be replying to my threads anymore. i was hoping you wouldn't be cluttering other people's useful info by stupid remarks that discourage objective scrutiny by labeling it "he thinks he know better than XYZ" just for questioning ideas.

i hope you die and go to hell

as i am generally incompatible with anyone who resembles the spanish inquisition or the taliban in their disdain for questioning any authority or reason, and which you seem to be in your religious reverence to "toyota engineers" as infallible gods or what not, you might find better uses of your time and nerves

When screw clamps get tightened down they'll start to grip the hose near where they screw. Then they'll start bunching and grabbing the material. Is it minor? Yes. Does it still happen? Yes. Does an Army of Toyota engineers know more than Foamy Tits? Yes. Are some of his questions legit and at least more interesting than "What's the max tire size I can put on a stock 2008 Tacoma?"? Yes.

    +1 Foamy Tits.
