Why does the dealer always massively over-inflate your ties?

Is there a reason for this? Are they just doing it because they don’t know any better? Christ, my tires are all inflated well over 40 psi every time I leave the place.

Are you running LT tires, especially E-Loads?

Typically due to policy they have to inflate to the minimum it says on the tire for "safety reasons" even though it's not relevant to use case and typically LT tires have higher minimums.

I thought tires just state Max Pressure on the sidewall; where does one find Min Pressure?

It's because they are idiots an can't read the door jam for the proper tire pressure.

As far as max and min pressure it has to do with the weight on the tires. If you load a camper on your truck you would run higher pressure than say if your truck was empty. The best way to figure out what to run your tires is with the chalk test.

same with any other tire place,, they just fill to whatever they want... I always have a sticky note with front and rear PSI for them to keep by when rotating tires at the ship...

I must be unlucky, my dealer inflates them to only 36 psi.

My dealer doesn't inflate my ties at all. I dress casual when I go in for service.

    Oh look, another mod....
They have to put all the hot air that comes out of their mouths somewhere, why not your tires?

Well, at least they put air in your tires.

I found out they didn’t rotate mine last time. They lied and put it on the service receipt that they did it and everything.

They forgot to put my tire stem caps back on too. I didn’t notice until I got home. I was so mad at that point I didn’t even bother going back.

Just call the thread another dealer rant.
Does not matter the topic.... Just I hate dealer.
    Too much air
    Too little oil
    Shitty coffee
    Dash cam caught ..
    Overpriced
    Dumbasses
    No selection
    Shitty finance rate
Can't fix simple shit like bumper covers
And my favorite.... I paid X dollars and want Bentley level service!
I think I covered most of the rants, any others?

I asked my stealer to add a few lbs to one tire because it was a lb low and in the cold mornings t threw a warning light. Apparently when they got to my truck it had been run and the warning light wasn’t on.. so no light. No problem. Idiots

Load charts...varies depending on the type of tire.
    P-metric is 26 psi
    Euro-metric is 22 psi
    LT-metric is 35 psi
    LT-flotation is 25 psi

ETA-Most P-metric and euro-metric do not increase load carrying capacity beyond 35 and 36 psi, respectively; regardless of what the max psi on the sidewall says. Anything over 35/36 psi is to maintain the speed rating of the tire.

My dealer usually deflates mine back to 30/31 psi.
    I run mine at 32 Front / 34 Rear. (I tow frequently)

Last time I was at my dealer, they told me they inflated my stock tires to the recommended psi of 36. The placard inside my drivers door says 29 psi is recommended.

Because they're reading the maximum inflation pressure off the side of the tire instead of the sticker on the door jam

    Idiots

That is what their automatic inflation machine is set to and they do not care. I wondered why my brand new truck rode so rough compared to my 2016 and figured out it was set to over 40psi. Decreased to the 29 specified by Toyota and it ran much nicer. This must be a Toyota dealership thing.
