Why does this seat suck so bad?

I’m a huge Toyota truck fan but some things on my new 3rd gen are bothering me.
I can deal with the lack luster torque curve and tranny shenanigans. The poor quality plastics and trim fading and delaminating, etc.
But the driver seat is killing me. Terrible seating position, lack of a power adjuster in this day is in unacceptable for a vehicle of this caliber. The seat in my 1st gen is even better, as bad as that one is.

I’m wanting to swap in a power seat adjuster track, has anyone done or know of any tricks to make this seat more comfortable? I priced out the swap from Toyota by the time it’s done it’s 2000.00 plus. Right now I’m trying to find a used one. When did they smarten up and add the power seat?

Powered driver’s seat started in the 20 model. You can get seat jackers that help or you could buy a power seat but you will have to run power to it and I’m not sure if the air bag connector are the same or not.

I was planning on swapping the air bags and cushions/etc if I could find a used one.
    What are “seat jackers”?

I was skeptical of the jackers because my head was already so close to the ceiling but they really do live up to all the hype they get around here

I just got a promo email from desertdoesit this morning. 15% off with code “DDIVIP” if you’re interested in the seat jackets. I like mine. Nice improvement in comfort, especially in longer drives.

I had a 2017 with no power seat. I now have a 21 with a power seat. I feel zero difference in seat comfort or discomfort. As far as I know they are the same seat with different adjustments.
I have set my seat exactly once, the day I bought it. I did the same with my 2017 as well.
I hope you get it fixed and get comfortable.

Falling on deaf ears with me but hope you find out how to make it comfortable, my SR seat with no power anything is fine. Spent 18 hours in one stretch only stopping for gas and to eat a month ago and it was as good as any. I'm 6' with 34" pants length. Like hiPSI, I set it the day I bought it and have not touched it since.

I just installed Seat Jackers in my 2022/power seat, and although a slight improvement in comfort they aren't a cure all for the Tacoma's historical shitty front seats. I thought I would install them in the others but, I'm not convinced they are 100% worth the money, time will tell. The seats in a Tacoma are the interior weakest link and there is no easy fix. I see little difference in seat comfort improvement over the years in any of the Tacoma's I own.
IMO, your best bet is to get the Seat Jackers, a decent lumbar support and some quality seat covers.

I traded in my 2019 for a 2020 to have the power seat and it’s just meh. I actually would prefer the regular now because without seat memory it’s hard to get it back to where it was perfect for you after someone messes with it. The old style was just clicks on the track a stages on the recline so you could remember to get it back perfect.

If Toyota had used electronic adjustable seats from the start, they likely wouldn't have the right adjustment range anyway.
Personally have had no issues but everyone's body is different.

Ram 1500 is the most comfortable truck interior and has the best seating position
There's probably some tradeoffs when compared to the Tacoma.

2nd & 3rd gen Tacoma seats bolt flat to the floor it is what it is.

I wonder how 3rd gen Tundra owners are liking the seating position on those trucks?

They sit pretty close to the floor not as close as on the Tacoma.

Intrested to see what the 4th gen Tacoma brings in the category of interior comfort.

Toyota seats suck. I'm not sure why they can't figure out such a simple thing. An hour or more in a Tacoma (or any toyota) is torture for me. My chevy is like riding a nice comfy couch down the road. The 2020 and and later have much better seats. I hesitate to try the "seat jackers" because the seats are already too high....lifting them in the front will correct one issue whilst creating another.

I'm about to chop out the floor and build a new frame to mount the seats at the appropriate height and angle.

Lately is seems there is a competition to see which OEM can produce the least user friendly and useful truck. As a prior toyota factory trained master tech....shit went south in 2003 on the 4runner and in 2005 on the Tacomas. Interior quality is garbage at this point.

Volvo has the best seats, they're comfy. Gotta figure out how to get a couple of Volvo seats in the Tacoma

Seats in my sport are super comfortable. Did an 8 hour trip and no issues whatsoever. I’m 5’11”, 200.

Also interior quality is just fine to me I don’t see what the issue is.

What I don't understand in these seat threads.
Toyota sells 300K Tacomas a year with identical seat shape and position to 300K people that are not identical!

I mean, I am in the 1% as far as height and I fit, barely lol. Clearly the truck seat is made for those 5'9" 180 pounders that makes up like 60% of all men out there.
I don't think engineers can do much better than they have due to the huge variety of asses they have to fit.
