Also prior to the 3rd gen. If you wanted the higher stance you had to get the prerunner package for the upgraded suspension and higher ride height. If you got just a plain truck or just the SR5 it sat much lower and many did not like that. So I assume that if you were getting the prerunner package many opted for the TRD packages as well since they were already dropping the extra $ for that initial prerunner. Where as now the 3rd gens don't have the regular option that sits lower. Even a base model sits as tall as the TRD.

I'm pretty happy with my SR5 apart from the powertrain. If they put a V8 in the OR I definitely would have saved up or traded in for one by now.

Totally pointless, but the 5 year old playing with hot wheels inside of me still thinks its cool.

What's the weight difference between the 3.5 and say the 4.6? Eats up even more into the scanty payload. Plus unbalances the truck even more. I'd just as soon install a supercharger, when they become available.

All except OR and Pro have auto lsd. The only “performance upgrade” the Sport has is stiffer suspension.

The SR5's on dealer lots around my area are priced so close to TRD's that it doesn't make sense to buy them. Sometimes they're priced even more than TRD's! Dealers order them loaded up to the gills apparently.

I bought my 2018 SR5 because it was 4k less than the TRD Truck I went to look at. I decided I didn't need all the extra crap. More stuff to fail for me. I also still own an '08 4wd Access Cab SR5 with 180k on it.

Both 2017 SR and SR5 come with Standard LSD. Same goes for 2018
Only mechanical difference between 2017 SR5 and Sport is "sport-tuned suspension" for few more $$$

Did the same thing several years ago when I was cutting firewood in Angeles National Forest. So here I am cutting firewood (permit with key) and all of a sudden a film crew (permitted from same office) comes out of nowhere. Mind you, my saws are modified and loud. I didn’t think too much about it till later when I was leaving the cutting area when the main guy came over and said, “you messed up our shooting.” I replied, “that’s too bad, because I’m here on a permit as well.” He continues to talk smack, and I stopped him cold turkey. “Tell you what dumbass(exact words), I’m going to call the office that gave you the permit to shoot here and I’m going to tell them you are harassing a firewood cutter who has a permit as well.” The dude’s face puckers up bad, along with the gang surrounding him. I wasn’t backing down, and didn’t. I ended up calling and the person on the phone was not happy about it. He told me he was going to call this crew and tell them not to harass any of the firewood cutters, or their permit was going to be revoked. Nuff said.

Yeah, I had to deal with a messed up filming permit too on the ANF. I used to do environmental monitoring, and was monitoring the road repair work when they were trying to rehang (yes, rehang) The last 5 miles of highway 39 on the side of the mountain, and our permits said 20mph. So it took weeks, but I got the construction crews to all drive below that speed for the project. So one day a film crew comes, with a permit and a Forest Service monitor, into our work zone going 45 miles plus in the straight section and someone on the crew yells at me to get out of the way when I tell them to slow down. Construction crew and foreman not happy (they knew many more cuss words than the film crew ), film crew scarred and hiding behind the forest monitor, and me and him comparing their permits. No speed limit posted on their permit! Next day, everyone was driving 20mph after our meeting with the district people.

Ok, what was this thread about? OP- sorry if I digressed a bit!

I owned 2017 an SR5 Double cab V6 4x2. Its a daily driver and it does everything that what my brother 2017 trd offroad does. we live in miami florida, no mountains and he doesn't like mudding. so whats the point of getting an offraod. I used the extra money to get suspension, lift kit, wheels, tires. I couldn't be happier with it.
