Did the same thing several years ago when I was cutting firewood in Angeles National Forest. So here I am cutting firewood (permit with key) and all of a sudden a film crew (permitted from same office) comes out of nowhere. Mind you, my saws are modified and loud. I didn’t think too much about it till later when I was leaving the cutting area when the main guy came over and said, “you messed up our shooting.” I replied, “that’s too bad, because I’m here on a permit as well.” He continues to talk smack, and I stopped him cold turkey. “Tell you what dumbass(exact words), I’m going to call the office that gave you the permit to shoot here and I’m going to tell them you are harassing a firewood cutter who has a permit as well.” The dude’s face puckers up bad, along with the gang surrounding him. I wasn’t backing down, and didn’t. I ended up calling and the person on the phone was not happy about it. He told me he was going to call this crew and tell them not to harass any of the firewood cutters, or their permit was going to be revoked. Nuff said.

Yeah, I had to deal with a messed up filming permit too on the ANF. I used to do environmental monitoring, and was monitoring the road repair work when they were trying to rehang (yes, rehang) The last 5 miles of highway 39 on the side of the mountain, and our permits said 20mph. So it took weeks, but I got the construction crews to all drive below that speed for the project. So one day a film crew comes, with a permit and a Forest Service monitor, into our work zone going 45 miles plus in the straight section and someone on the crew yells at me to get out of the way when I tell them to slow down. Construction crew and foreman not happy (they knew many more cuss words than the film crew ), film crew scarred and hiding behind the forest monitor, and me and him comparing their permits. No speed limit posted on their permit! Next day, everyone was driving 20mph after our meeting with the district people.

Ok, what was this thread about? OP- sorry if I digressed a bit!

I owned 2017 an SR5 Double cab V6 4x2. Its a daily driver and it does everything that what my brother 2017 trd offroad does. we live in miami florida, no mountains and he doesn't like mudding. so whats the point of getting an offraod. I used the extra money to get suspension, lift kit, wheels, tires. I couldn't be happier with it.

Seems there are plenty that are happy with OR power with their lifted trucks. Unless you're talking huge tires. And the people that seem unsatisfied with the power also feel the same stock.

OK so I saw a taco yesterday with Trd OR stickers and SR5 badge on the back. What is up with that? Is it a poser with fakies?

I still can't believe the "sport" doesn't have any extra power/bigger engine/sport exhaust.

The sport has the same lsd as the sr5. The sport is an sr5 with a hood scoop, push to start, and different suspension. Everything else is the same unless you add the premium and tech package with the sunroof.

Was it a 2nd Gen? The first few years of 2nd Gen had that setup, SR5 badges on the back and TRD (Offroad in this case) stickers on the side. The later half 2nd Gen's got rid of the SR5 badges. In reality they are all SR5's with the TRD package/trim installed in addition to it from what I understand

Is it just me, or is something wrong with that steering wheel? Looks like the airbag is trying to escape.

Same could be said about the OR, even the Pro.

I guess I'll bite... I looked at both the SR5, OR, and Pro before buying my SR5. I didn't get the Pro because I knew the vast majority of things that made it a Pro would be replaced. The only thing it had going for it in my eyes was the Softex seats, the Calvary paint, and the exclusivity. The money saved then from that to the OR made the OR sound like a no-brainer, but the more and more I looked at it, I couldn't justify the additional price over the SR5. I got an amazing deal on my SR5, which had every option I wanted other than a locker from the OR, and was significantly cheaper than all but one OR I found (it was quicksand and the wife ruined it by saying it looked like a prosthetic limb). I then happily got an SR5 in the color of my choice for an amazing deal. I'm sad I didn't get the locker from the factory, but bought the truck knowing that I will be heavily modifying it, so when I do 4.88 gears I'll add my ARB air locker. I understand the logic of both the OR and the SR5 and I think that you just think about how you'll actually use what you buy and if you will modify it. My 2 cents at at least...

A fully loaded 4x4 SR5 DCSB is only a few hundred less than a base model 4x4 OR DBSB, just FYI. Maybe the OR's you were looking at were optioned out?

Actually, thats only if you go MT on the OR. The Auto OR is about 16-1700 more than an Auto sr5

Well said Jeremy. Funny how truck trim levels have become popularity and pissing contests for the DD. Towing and hauling are what trucks are primarily designed for. Aside from a tow package they all have the same capacities. Satisfied with my SR5 prerunner with tow package. For those have not want nots, why not ORs why not just get 4R or a quad for that matter...
