SR5 with appearance package to get larger screen, nav, and upgraded wheels was perfect fit for me. Also 4x4 and tow package. Saved a few bucks passing on upgrades I won't miss.

I have one, always had Trd sports before, honestly the Trds are in such high demand you can negotiate a much better price on the sr5 and besides some fancy tech it's the same damn truck unless you go off road package but do you really need crawl control, etc? I see plenty of loaded up street queen off roads around here. Resale value is so close sometimes the better deal is not a Trd if you can get the sr5 at a better price new. It really boils down to what you want and what you need, but coming to TW and asking why not an SR5 your always gonna get the sr5 is crap Trd is so much better nonsense. Get what you can afford and need.

Nice truck, and that better negotiating price/ availability is something I am hoping for. Also your license plate cracked me up.

Another "poverty owner" here, just couldn't see a reason to spend the extra money on an SR5 the SR to me had plenty. Maybe if the SR didn't come with bluetooth, cruise, steering wheel controls, power windows, power locks, or painted bumpers I would've jumped up, but the SR5 to me didn't offer enough to make up for the price difference. However I do have a less is more attitude most of the time...

    Probably a lot of reasons:

    1. Dealers stock more TRDs so there are more on the lot to look at, choose from and deal on. Dealers know what people want and end up buying so they stock accordingly.
    2. The upgrades to a TRD for the cost are a great value.
    3. A lot of Toyota truck buyers buy with the intent of keeping the truck for a long time, so it makes sense to get the added goodies that you'll enjoy over tire.
    4. Skewp, of course.

    5. Also, outside of the TW bubble there's probably a greater spread of BASE/SR5/TRD models. There are of course more enthusiasts here, and we enthusiasts tend to choose the fun models.

Not yo take away from the SR-5, but I recently traded my 16 for a 16 TRDOR and for me I'm glad I did. I'm using all the extra crap too so it was worth it to me.

YES that is another reason i opted for the SR5 is because i wanted the access cab with 6ft bed instead of the 4dr short bed and in my area the access cabs were very hard to find

Thanks. I have a dclb 4wd with tow and appearance/convience package sticker was $35090, I got it for $31090. They wouldnt budge near that much on the off-road long bed so I went sr5 and no regrets.

Exactly. A maxed out SR5 for ~31k is a steal. That's why I did it.

The SR5 is a great truck, and there are a lot of owners with them.

TRD OR was an easy choice for me, because Toyota didn't give me any other options.

    I wanted a v6 with a manual and also wanted an e-locker.

Very true. I have a set that I can't even give away. Put them out by the street and even the garbage trucks drive by.

Yup so just because you say

Doesn't make it quite true. Nice try though, maybe in the future you shouldn't generalize so much. There happens to be a lot of avid off-road enthusiasts on this forum, hence the reason Toyota evens make the off-road package.

Tire size?? Do they rub at all? Not that I've kept track but it seems like I've read more about tires rubbing on the 3rd gens more than 1st or 2nd. I hear you on the daily driver part. Don't need my daily driver to crawl Everest. Love my SR5! All I need on it are tires and I'm good.

So my truck came lifted from the dealer with these tires on them and that might be why they haven't rubbed at all.
