Are you sure it has the v6 and not the 4cyl? It wouldn't be the first time someone got sold something with "fake" badges, quite a few people on here have seen or ended up with "fake" TRD trucks.

while we’re on the subject. I bought my ‘12 Tacoma last month from a small used car dealer. It was an awesome price for a supercharged 4x4. After we closed I asked the salesman/finance/owner guy if he knew it was supercharged. Seeing his jaw drop was worth the 20k I spent.

I looked up WOT (and google told me "Wide open throttle, this is like learning to read a medical chart. A ton on context specific acronyms.)

What nb4SPdbh said about the stock tuning makes sense. The guy I got the 2007 from might have done something else to it.... he clearly tricked it out in cosmetic ways, but I don't think it had a supercharger.

Question remains- how do I FIX the current circumstance.

I'm sure the 2014 is a 6cyl. I bought it from a dealership and checked the VIN.

The 2007 WAS a TRD. The 2014 is an SR5

Idk mine is a 14 although it's a manual I've never thought it lacked power, I don't think there's any tuning or gearing difference between the TRD and the SR5.
Has it always been sluggish? Maybe somethings actually wrong with the truck, plugged exhaust, low fuel pressure, dirty MAF, etc.

Agreed on the supercharge it. Unless you plan to lift and shove too big of tires in there. Then supercharge it and regear.

Honestly though, have you gone through the truck since you bought it to ensure the maintenance has been done? Spark plugs, wires, new air filter, oil change, etc.... If it isn't up to date on maintenance, supercharging and/or regearing is just putting a band aid on it.

There are some straight forward maintenance things you can try. Throw a can of injector cleaner in the gas tank at the next fill up (~$5 bottle). Change the engine air filter (~$15).

Not hard but requires some mechanical experience. Clean the MAF (DIY ~$6 can). Clean the throttle body (DIY ~$5 a can). Spark plugs (DIY ~$30 a set of 6)

You may want to change the cabin air filter, nothing to do with performance but its a previously owned vehicle and they get gross rather quickly.

    Same exact experience here.

2007 4.0 MT access Cab TRD Sport was zippy AF, super fun to drive. I could pass people on canyon roads without need to shift out of 6th.

Bought a 2013 4.0 MT access cab Off Road 4 months ago, it's gutless, have to drop to 4th to get the same acceleration as I got in sixth on the sport. I'm planning to regear soon, I miss that pep of the old Sport.

I was going to throw this out there. I remember this being uncovered in the hp tuners thread. I think I saw people swapped back to the older throttle pedal map and saying it was alot better. A pedal commander is probably a cheaper way way to fix this issue compared to hp tuners

    Wednesday motor vs Friday motor?????

I’ve seen this before. I had an 05 Harley that for some reason seemed like it was faster and had better throttle response than other bikes of the same model and year. Never really found any explanation.

LOL- I did pop the hood!!!!! That's what I meant when I said, I can READ. Damn, I thought I was green, but y'all must have had some fools on here.
And yes, I have the service history, it was serviced at Toyota until I bought it, had all it's regularly scheduled TLC. When I got it I took it to my mechanic (who is not at Toyota, and who I trust, from years of experience) and he put new plugs in, flushed the transmission. It's got a K&N filter, it's been cleaned. Cabin air filter too after the fires last summer.... Not popping any codes, no reason to believe mass air flow sensor is going (have replaced on 4 of 5 previous trucks)

How is putting in a supercharger different than a "re-gear"

thanks to anthemAnathem- yup, that's it, could pass people on canyon roads and not even blink....
