Why doesn't toyota put keyless start with a manual?

I would be all for them if you got rid of keys 100%. But as long as I have to carry one anyways they are a PITA.

Link the damn thing into my phone do as long as my phone is near the truck I’m good. But don’t make me have to carry a clunky set of keys around.

So its really a half assed upgrade haha

From what I was told back in the day when remote starts and push buttons were being tried out and developed,

MT cars were not done due to liability issues.

Think about it. Even with a clutch lock out or clutch bypass, if you leave the trans in gear it will lurch forward. AT trans by nature is fully disengaged and can not move until the brake is applied, MT cars CAN start without the clutch or brake being depressed. Newer vehicles obviously have some sensors in them now......

There probably are some MT vehicles with push button, dunno. Only repeating what I was told back in the day.

I don't need it but come on its 2017-2019 and they have no manual with a push to start. I wouldn't expect a 1984 or a 1992 to have a push to start heck anything below 2006 I wouldn't expect to have a button to start but that tacoma is 2017+ I mean come on.

The nomenclature is strange, but the clutch start cancel isn’t so you can start the truck without the clutch depressed. It’s to key and roll the truck using the starter.

Like I mentioned earlier I believe it's tied into the clutch cancel switch allowing you to ride the starter motor out of a jam.

Im confused, we talking about that small black button that lights up orange right?

So if im stuck uphill and its unsafe to roll back, i put in 1 st gear, press the button, turn the key and it will ride the starter motor. So im guessing it is clutch cancel start? :notsure:

Its a convenience feature that I like. I don't have to rely on it to help me drive everywhere like Automatic braking, lane assist etc...
I am already driving a mustang with a manual and push to start and I don't really lurch when I start. I leave my car(mustang manual) in neutral with the parking brake on when shutting of my car and I just start it like normal clutch in and when I want to put it in first gear I press the brakes and hand brake down and first gear and let go of the clutch etc... Its easy and its not rocket science to drive a manual car.

I feel as humans we are doomed because not even humans can do basic things as drive without assist and I am only 24. I don't want to see the future and that is sad.

Me either. My 1931 Ford has push button start. You push a button on the floor with your foot.

Majority leave the trans in gear while parked.....

The reasoning behind not having it in a MT is pretty compelling with just the above line, unless you have multiple safety switches the clutch HAS to be depressed or there needs to be a gear indicator/lock out switch to even make it possible. Like I said, there are probably are some that have it (does not surprise me that FERD and probably Chevy have this......more tech than reliability)

As I have been told, it runs down the path of responsibility and liability.
You can’t trust that any human is responsible enough to accept liability, so the MFG does it for you by not putting it in, or by over complicating the system with more parts that fail.

Cheer up man, lol … it will all be ok. I agree though in a sense and got a 19 4runner to avoid TSS and before the next gen coming. I still got a key too :)

Yea. Basic stuff. Like turn a simple key.

There is zero advantage to a push to start system. Except to the folks you pay when 1) you lose your key 2) it breaks.

You say the trans in the 2.7 work truck you drive is bad. I'll wager it's not the same as the one in a v6. You need to test drive some vehicles.

To answer your basic question, 'they don't want to'. Quit arguing with yourself and a forum full of strangers over something none of us can change.

After your test drives, you'll get to decide if you prefer a wizard switch and the auto, or a manual trans and 'suffer' with a key.

Or don't buy a Tacoma at all. Toyota doesn't really care either way. And the forum likely doesn't either.

    Shop on.

If you want a new Manual pickup truck then you have 3 choices, Tacoma, Frontier, or Gladiator. The Frontier like the Tacoma also has a key because it has the clutch cancel switch, however I am not sure what is on the Gladiator.

I think the picture is of some Brooklyn kid pretending to know what the outdoors is. I’m certain it was taken in a very serious context. I, however, use it satirically. Because it’s very funny to me.

I personally don’t hide things in my socks. That was satire.
