Oh dude. It does all kinda cool shit. You can:

    1. start your car from outside with it (just make sure you're in N!)
    2. start in 1L on a steep hill and crawl with the starter motor.
    3. start your truck with a broken left leg in first gear and get home without ever using your clutch (float them gears with the synchros)
    4. Start on a slick hill (again in gear) to avoid slip

That's a few. I believe there are a few more in some dedicated thread. It's the best button ever and really fun to use with an old fashioned key!! (see what I did there)

Lol the button isnt new argument: Partially true. In fact, I'll go one further, the original push to start buttons weren't on the dash, they were on the floor. To start the car you had to move the tree to neutral and stomp on the switch just to the left of the clutch (and in a few cases, try not to confuse it with the high beam switch). That was a feature that lasted oddly beyond the days of the manual choke on the dashboard. Hell, floor mounted high beams were still a remnant on the 1979 Bronco I learned to drive on.

I say partially true because y'all completely missed the innovative component of the equation - the proximity key. I dont really care if I have to push to start, twist to start, or bop it to start, as long as I dont have to fiddle with a key my lazy fat ass is happy.:cookiemonster:

When I was special ordering my 2019 OR Manual, the fleet manager said to me "You know if you get the manual, that doesn't come with push-button start". Me, with a sigh of relief said good, I was hoping that was the case since there is no option to delete the push-button.
Keep things simple. Keys work, they always have. I don't know the quality of the switch that's in the push-button, but I wouldn't want to depend on it to start my vehicle.

Because push button start is the stupidest and most idiotic thing imaginable. Just imagine if the battery in your remote goes dead.

I believe you just hold the remote up close to the button, at least you can on other vehicles.

I’m glad they don’t, one less electronic thing needing money to fix later.

Hmmm, I frequently reach in and shift the truck into neutral press the clutch cancel and turn the key, then go remove snow.

Proximity key is nice. I find myself trying to open the door before the door unlocks itself.

Again, technology is slower than man.

So you are saying you’d rather have a key because you don’t trust an electronic button? How do you think a keyed ignition works? Hint: it’s not mechanical. That can fail just like a push button can.

Also I’m sure this has been in here but Toyota puts push button starts on manual cars (my brz was manual and it didn’t have a key).

Maybe Toyota thinks that most people that buy a manual truck are hillbillies that wouldn’t understand how the button works.

I have mixed feelings on the security aspect of proximity keys. And, I like the cheap aspect of replacing my current key. For me, the convenience isn't that big of a win, I'm gonna take my keys out of my pocket in any case, and the ignition is a very convenient place to leave them while I drive.

Thieves now have an amplifier that can boost your keyfob from your house and unlock your doors. I’m wondering if they can then start your truck with the dash push button?
