Why aren't these trucks equipped with a proper exhaust brake system? I'm so tired of having to use my foot to actuate a primitive hydraulic cylinder like the pioneers did.

I maxed my credit for this cheap crap? Cmon toyota, a truck this expensive should at least have a jake brake.

Is that the bullshit you want to believe? The Land Cruiser has 4 wheel disc brakes.

I think the only reason it has rear drums is Toyota is cheap. I'll go a step further and say the entire rear axle is a flaming pile of shit that's a remnant of 1970's Toyota technology. The rear outer axle bearing and seal design is a pile of shit that's pretty much designed to contaminate your rear drum brakes with gear oil.

    Price.
They work good enough for a little truck that isn't designed to haul much.

The other week this woman was tailgating me in a Ridgeline & could of passed at anytime. She wasn't that close but closer than a reasonable distance. The whole time I thought she was driving a Pilot until she finally got in the right lane to turn into walmarrt.

because most buyers will take it to the dealer to have the drums done instead of fucking with it themselves.

I love how such a simple innocent question turns into ... whatever this is.

Answer: They're cheaper and they're good enough, and probably allow them to upgrade some other part of the truck. At least that's how I imagine it from an engineer + bean counting standpoint.
