First off, dont go to In-and-Out or Carls drive through with a manual, too messy. Stick to the arches instead.

And if you like ketchup with your fries. bite the ketchup pack open with your teeth and suck on it instead of dipping your fries in it. Much cleaner with a manual.

    Manual transmission service:
$30 in gear oil, 25 minutes in your drive way.

    Automatic transmission service:
Take it to the dealer, pay $250. Wait all day. Wonder if it was done properly every time it shifts weird after.

He is only making a mess by slapping gears and I used to hear and see one of my coworkers suck the ketchup out of packets as he sat at his desk. It was just gross and disgusting. I could hear the guy getting fatter :puke:

No need to drive while you eating in and out.... only going to make a mess in the truck and sucking ketchup from the packet is just gross.

Manual guys have a bigger knob, but they also play with it a lot more, so it’s a wash.

Here’s the deal, a manual transmission equipped vehicle has 3 pedals, I only have 2 feet therefore only mutants are able to operate them. And that’s why I drive an automatic :rofl::anonymous:

My third leg can reach down but I drive an auto because I don’t wanna wear it out. Gotta save it for other activities.

Ohh i've spent many hours driving with my knee, eating a burger with my right hand and reaching over with my left to change gears. I miss standards sometimes.

    Here's some fancy shifting !!!!

    Left stick .... overdrive selector

    Middle stick ...main transmission

    Right stick ..... Range selector

Normal 13spd trans with the air selector switches replaced by shifter handles

Man, I broke my right ankle on two separate occasions. Once resulting in an external fixator. Had to drive for 4 months using my left foot on an automatic and a bunch of metal sticking out of my right leg. That was a bit awkward but not too crazy. I remember thinking “Well... at least I don’t have a manual.”

Such questions have the potential of opening several Rabbit and Worm Holes to distant planes of convoluted existence. ;)

As is the general consensus, M/T is not necessarily always better than A/T in these instances.

A more conclusive question may be; How do M/T and A/T fare against one another when off-roading and/or towing? The answer here greatly depends upon both, an individuals requirements, preferences, and skills, as well as important factors such as required accuracy & control, potential mechanical wear & tear and expected fuel economy (among other factors). There are also several variations of each instance to take into consideration.

Generally, one may deduce that A/T has an edge over M/T with regards to accuracy & control, mechanical wear & tear and fuel economy in certain off-road conditions. With regards to towing however, M/T may have an edge with regards to accuracy & control (depending on the situation of course), yet depending upon driver skill, may be less ideal with regards to mechanical wear & tear and fuel economy. Clearly, with all instances, a certain/high degree of skill is required with M/T so as to mitigate any disadvantages and/or negative consequences.

As far as the three pedals go, ever since I’ve learned to drive an un-synchronized manual transmission I only use the clutch to get rolling. Even in a small truck with a synchronized transmission, it’s just easier to not use the clutch pedal. Maybe I’m just getting lazier as I get older. Haha

I have always had a manual, mostly Tacoma’s. Stubborn I guess. Wife won’t drive it, but knows how to. I think it keeps my mind young , but this truck will probably be the last. Went from a 4spd with a granny 1st gear. Then a 5spd with an overdrive 5th. Now a 6spd, all synchronized and 2 overdrive gears. My 2018 6spd manual is the nicest trans I have ever had, a joy to use.
