Why are you so pissed off? Why bother with OEM mud flaps to start with? There are much better aftermarket options.

Sorry OP, but who cares? Why ruin such a great moment with being pissed off at buffoons, who we all know don’t even know the product that they’re selling.

Throw the mudflaps in the recycler and as @CrispyTacoLover said, go get something you know you want.

Good decision to go without flares
That looks super clean! I hate any tack on that can trap dirt, which leads to rust, etc
Are these non flared fenders available on an sr 3.5?

Because he probably handed them $30,000+ for a truck that he had to wait months for and then they tried to charge him for POS mudflaps that will never fit his truck and told him to screw and return them in person AND gave him crap about it. Yeah: what's to be ****** about? I mean he's only a customer with a pocket full of dough that's helping to keep the lights on and the kid's fed. Seriously?

OP: Don't ever go back there again. Not even for a windshield-washer bottle re-fill.

The point is THE DEALER "ruined a great moment": over a set of crappy mud-flaps he didn't want......not the cash-providing customer who offered to pay full freight to return them in return for a refund for parts THAT WON'T FIT his truck. He bailed out of there to keep them from drilling holes in his brand-new truck for something that won't fit. Bravo!

I wouldn't let the dealer screw two new holes in my front bumper facia to install my front plate either. I guess I'm just an evil person for stopping them from doing something to a vehicle I now own. Ya. I rigged up my own solution and it passed inspection. Go figure.

About 213 cubic inches, it sounds bigger in metric.

Exactly! There must be a reason though? Because original measurements for engines were from Europe so they kept it ? Just a guess. Or metric rolls off the tongue easier ?

    Maybe the TW gods know

They also don't make carpet floor mats for a manual TRD off road. My truck came with TRD sport ones. I complained. They ordered what was spec'd for the truck via the vin. Guess what? Sport ones again. I said that's not acceptable, so they tried to order some without the vin. They came in, and guess what? Pro ones this time. The parts manager spent some time on this for me. He came back and said Toyota actually doesn't make the carpet floor mats for a manual TRD offroad. I kept the Pro ones and probably won't use them. I originally wanted to have the summer ones as carpet and the winter ones the rubber ones. Just an idea I had to lengthen the life of them. Bizarre! I'm not sure how different the automatic ones are but the parts manager said he couldn't sell me a set. Apparently there was some problems with people stacking mats? They must be different enough to cause problems with the pedals I guess.

In the mid Seventies there was a push for the US to go Metric, there was a huge push back by the citizens.

Meanwhile in the auto industry, higher end European cars like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Saab and Volvo were making inroads into the American market - a very high profit section of said market.

If you study the US auto industry of that time there was a lot of old school management with the opinion of "we are big, we are powerful, we've always done it this way".

Back then "imported" cars were a rarity, even if the customer wasn't overly impressed with his GM, Ford or Chrysler choices the odds were he was still going to buy from one of "the big 3".

Remember the US makers had already dropped the ball in the 60's and early 70's by blowing off the importance of first small cars: VW first, then Datsun (Nissan) and Toyota.

It was an expensive mistake that cost them many sales so to a degree they recognized the importance of this new threat.

Those European cars all listed their displacement in Metric, the US companies started doing the same to make their products seem a bit more "International"...

Essentially it was the same old stuff with a new decal, look at the US auto industry today, they still learn slow, we all have Toyotas here.

GM didn’t really catch on until they dropped the 350 for the 4.8 and the 5.3 in the late 90s. lol

yeah, kind of a bummer situation, I guess it would feel a little worse to me if 95% of Tacoma owners didn’t take off the stock flaps and throw them in the recycling bin because they suck and get in the way. It’s one of those things I don’t think you could even sell used and yet the dealer is going to force you to take something somewhere somehow because that’s how they make money.

@Commocean, you can always try contacting corporate, document the lack of this feature for your truck and get them to fight it with you.

My 2021 TRD OR DCSB 6MT came with OEM carpeted floor mats that are sitting in my garage — my TRD OR was totaled last June and I kept the floor mats. Now I have a TRD Pro with the all weather mats and I’m thinking of getting carpeted ones to trade off between seasons as you indicated you were planning.
