I don't like the new car smell in the 3rd gen Tacoma, it's too close of a new car smell to the Tundra and not unique to it's own. #newcarsmelluniqueness

The reason Toyota made it to look like a Baby Tundra is huge savings on design costs. Designing a midsize truck with a unique and distinctly different look than the Tundra would cost millions more than simply telling the designers to take the Tundra and shrink it.

I wonder if this thread will make a 2016 appear so someone can finally talk about it after actually seeing it

I am really diggin' the interior.

Nice that they are going with a darker grey.

    The brown isn't bad either.

    I like the dash too.

Me too. The knobs are so much more appealing then the plethora of feel alike buttons that my 2 gen has. Kudos. Really like the return to handle e-brake. Now, is the cab a little larger and the entrance better. Two BIG concerns.

Haahaa. The not having a hand break really annoyed when I had my taco. I love it in my LX.

Looks like a baby version interior of the Tundra....

just hope they have upgraded and improved the ECU from 2nd gen.. Would consider a 3rd gen if the ECU is redesigned.

The ECU is the same , they said it carried over in the press release because it was bulletproof

The shift boot is a nice touch as well. I feel it adds to the 4x4 feel of a vehicle. Reminds me of an older 90's grand Cherokee feel which was a tank of a vehicle. Good mix of modern and old school touches. Kudos to Toyota on this one

    A lot!
And they took away the regular cab. Looks like I'll be babying my 2012. Never thought I would say that it looks like I have bought my last new Toyota truck in my lifetime.

Regular cab died in 2014. No 2015 RCs IIRC.

tail gate lock, rear view mirror bracket, hood hinge brackets, and the list grows.
I don't mind mind the exterior so much but I'm not a fan of the interior at all

After diving ~ 3 weeks with my new baby, it confuses me. This is not really about the looks, but more about the motor. My 4.7 v-8 has roughy the same HP as the tacoma but has over 310 feet pounds of torque... That thing cruises at 65 mph. I am roughy averaging 22 mph. I also ask the question... If they fit in the 4 runner why can't they fit it in a taco. I drove to Lodi roughy 50 miles all free way from my house and took a picture when I got there. I couldn't believe it. In my 2007 tacoma I would have been at a half tank. Granted my LX has a 24 gallon tank. Which is another thing why is the taco only a 19 gallon tank. Come on Toyota at least give us the option in like the TRD pro package or something.

    Edit: Whoops 40 miles.
