Oh trust me, I have issues with my 2016 tacoma as well which have made me question this "toyota reliabilty" I've heard so much about over the years. Some of the things make me feel like a lot of people are drinking some pretty strong "kool-aid", but we'll see.

I do like the truck, but there are quite a few things that amaze me, and not in a good way. Not to mention a lot of people scream resale resale resale but then pay thousands above what they would pay for a competitor's vehicle in the first place.

Definitely more of a wives tale than it used to be.
I bought Toyota because I wanted a truck that would be reliable for a decade.

Toyota has that, even if it's only perceived reliability.

There was nothing foolish about it. You're just trolling for a fight. Get a life buddy.

Well I guess I'm an idiot on two counts according to the OP.

1st count, mpg. Coming from a 2011 F-350 mpg was first and foremost on my list when looking for my next truck (maybe looks had a part in that as well). As far as mpg that part was easy to satisfy for me.

2nd count, clueless. I am clueless about vehicles and how they work, and I like it that way. I've got too much crap in my head already and don't need to know how to change my blinker fluid. But I'm aware of my vehicles and smart enough to figure out a problem and if I'm so inclined I'll research how to fix it.

My point being just because someone isn't knowledgable or has a dissimilar opinion of a particular discipline than yourself doesn't automatically make them an idiot.

LOL So like every other forum on the internet this one too is just full of guys who are looking for some stupid shit to get all offended and upset about so they can have an argument on the internet.

Look if you like the miles per gallon that your truck is getting than good for you. If you think it gets bad mpg than you obviously don't know anything about trucks. If you think I'm calling you out specifically when I make statements about idiots than that's your own problem. I would have to be pretty damned good to name Hogpauls specifically given that we have never interacted before right now. If you're just trolling for an argument you need to grow up and get a life.

Rob, I'm not looking for an Internet pissing match nor was it an attack on you personally and by no stretch of the imagination was I offended. As far as growing up, I've lived long and hard enough that virtually nothing offends me from people I don't know but I've learned not to discount other people's mental capacities just because in one facet of life they are particularly knowledgable about.

As was my first post this is just my opinion whether anyone agrees with it doesn't really matter.

Not really, just disagreeing with your stupid blanket assessments about who is an idiot.

Here you are saying 3 people are looking for a fight, yet you've told each one who disagreed with you or took issues with your "everyone is an idiot" statement to get a life, they're a troll, go join a different forum, etc.

Seems like you're the one who is being an idiot, not me, or either of the others.

I with you on this one. This is my first Toyota and went with the Tacoma s my first truck after being a loyal owner of another car maker for the last 10+ years. All I ever heard over the years was how amazing Toyota quality was, how dependable they are, etc, etc. With this being my first Toyota ever I guess others have drank the Kool-Aid, or Toyota's quality is just starting to slip. I really wanted this truck to last 200,000 miles, but given it's been in the shop 3 times for transmission issues doesn't leave me very inspired. Couple that with the way the dealerships treat their customs and how they talk to them and basically ignore and blow them off until you really start making a stink (and zero help for Toyota Corporate Customer Service) is most likely going to mean I'll own the truck until time time my extended warranty is close to expiring (7yrs/100k miles) then I'll ditch it, maybe even sooner. Let some other poor SOB inherit that mess and roll the dice with it, and I'll go back to my trusty car company I should have never left in the first pace.

I feel your pain to some degree. When I first came to this forum I was (still am) disappointed in the way people behave. Tons os guys who appear to be the classic "bro" on here. Mouthy, know it all, meathead lifted truck clowns that have drank the Kool-Aid and think they are God's gift to the world because they flex their muscles here on TW. But it's not everyone. There are plenty of people here that have very sound, valid advice that can be really helpful and informative. The only catch is I don't think those people post enough because they are most likely tired of all the back and forth bullshit that goes on. They're above all that, and I don't blame them. I myself am VERY guilty of getting caught up in a proverbial pissing match on this forum and letting some clown's comments get the best of me. Do yourself a favor (and I'm trying to as well, and understand it's tough), but attacking and going at it with these d-bags isn't gonna solve a thing. You'll end up derailing your own thread, getting pissed and just end up wasting your time and energy. Trust me, like I already mentioned, I'm very guilty of doing this (and to be honest messing with those neanderthals CAN be very fun at times, and it's way to easy to get a rise out of them on here, that's for sure!) What Iv'e also found that works if not to respond to someone who's apparently trolling and waiting for a compliment. Just let them say what they want and don't do anything about it. That will probably piss them off ever more because now they have nothing to respond to and nothing to do, so they'll move onto another thread and mess with someone else!

But with all that said, I'd be careful about lumping everyone here into that category. That's a great way to just attract the trolls and everyone will pile onto you no matter what you say. I've learned that lesson as well.

This is a great forum and represents the real world with its own community tone, spirit, and flow.

You get what you give. If you call people idiots, you'll either have a concrete basis for it or you'll be called out for it.

Both of you have posted here about other posters non aggressive replies with slings and arrows and Internet bravado. Everyone else has just said one comment was stupid and incorrect, no chest thumping, no butthurt, and no backpedaling.

No surprise, the two who are the most butthurt and inflammatory in this thread are also the two who are banging the drum about everyone else having bad attitudes and trolling.

    Give it a rest already.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If Ford makes a nice extended cab, 2wd long box dually I'd be the f out of here but probably not

I had a 94 ranger extended cab, 4.0L, 5 speed for maybe 4-5 years when I was in HS and 1st years of college. It was a great vehicle, got consistent 20mpg, and was quick for a P/U.

Point being - if Ford had a ranger out now I'd have looked at it, but Toyota checked all the right boxes on this one.

I would've bought a ranger if they still made them and not met this lovely forum

Oh trust me I'm well aware. I've been on plenty of forums over the years and seen guys like these on every one of them. They're just here to start arguments over some stupid point or another because they have no life. This forum, thus far, is proving to be about as bad as a Jeep JK forum I used to post on. You had a handful of guys that just wanted to talk Jeeps to each other and then you had plenty of guys like a couple on this thread that just wanted to appoint themselves the PC police, get all offended about something completely irrelevant just so they can find someone to argue with. I'm not wasting my time with the dipshit trolls, but thanks for the advice.

I've known several people over the years who have owned Rangers that just wouldn't die. One of them was pushing 200K when he got rid of it and it still ran fine. I believe in that instance it was the 4 cylinder engine.
