I would take a solid axle for the lower maintenance, not the off road performance. Not a lot of people actually NEED a solid axle for the off roading they do. It's also been said before, independent suspension will perform better off road, better clearance, great articulation and overall a better ride. The problem is the components of an independent suspension will not hold up as well as a solid axle and need to be replaced and serviced more frequently.

My bad, I thought that was how they did the quad steer. I guess they at least got that part right but that truck just seemed like a maintenance nightmare.

Yes and I'd like vinyl flooring as a mandatory option in all trucks, but what happens? THEY PUT IT IN MOTHER$@#%@ HONDA ELEMENTS!!

Not sure how this is related, but for some reason I had to say it. Trucks are starting to no longer be trucks.

Why is the Ridgeline a POS? Being serious, because I thought they were pretty nice trucks besides their looks. Very high reviews also.

Probably a new 1500 with the 4 link, coil spring rear....not IRS!

Ford's front suspension geometry may be junk, but any SFA can have death wobble symptoms if you have the geometry off. Try driving a lifted FJ60 with the caster angle all screwed up. When you lift a SFA you've got to take drive line vibration into account just like you do on the rear of a taco. Shim it though, and you're adjusting the caster as well. You've then got to pick the lesser of the two evils, driveline vibes or death wobble (sometimes... you may not always have the wobble).

I've got a buddy that's had pretty rough luck trying to eliminate it on his FJ60. It can also be stuff like bent rims, really poorly balanced tires. There are several things that can make a SFA death wobble.

The unibody frame, although reportedly as strong, had a reputation for being weaker. It was also FWD, although 4WD was an option.

My sister has one and they've been pleased with it. I driven it a few times, and while I wouldn't say it sucks - it's better than a chevy - it's not my cup of tea.

In any event, the Ridgeline has been discontinued.
