I'm still trying to fathom it all

One of the dams upstream from me is still standing, but structurally not safe and they're saying breach is imminent...just unsure when it's going to go...

Truck is packed and ready...waiting to be told to go though

In Arizona we have what is called a "stupid motorist law" for real.
What it means when you go around a barricade on a flooded street you Pay for the extraction or any emergency help.if it's 2k to save your ass. The state sues you.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stupid_Motorist_Law
I realize this is a 500 year flood, but seeing the water 4 feet up the signs as that truck is being swept away is pitiful common sense.

Hope the water recedes soon for you guys.

Most passenger cars will float in just 12 inches (30 cm) of water, and 24 inches (61 cm) of water will sweep most vehicles (including SUVs trucks) away...

    You misunderstand my intent.
I was implying owning a 4x4 where it almost never snows (i.e.- South Carolina) is likely what led them to attempt the crossing. When people have a 4x4 in a state that doesn't see snow (or other extreme adverse weather conditions), and they never take said 4x4 off road, they often live under the mistaken belief that it will take them anywhere, and that's probably why he tried going down that flooded road despite the other truck that was already stalled up ahead of him.

Why did he do it? Because he misunderstood his Bae's text that simply read "come over. I'm wet."

I'm a local volunteer firefighter.. You would be amazed at people.. What I see here is about what I see on a daily basis in SC. If people would listen to local authorities this guy might still have his truck.. Or at least not in the middle of a flood. "Turn around, don't drown".

One way to my job floods during heavy rain when the river over flows and 3 coworkers in the past few years have driven into the water and flooded their engines. Went around barriers to get there. Can't fix stupid.
