If you can't Dodge it, Ram it!

He must be a Tacoma owner, is used to Tacoma performance in tough situations, and expected the company Dodge to meet said expectations. :cookiemonster:

He probably thought he had a marine battery in it and thought it was safe to go into the water. The other sad part is he has a US AIR FORCE badge under the tailgate handle and with all the safety briefings they give there people he failed to listen to them. Maybe with his insurance claim he will have new TRD Off Road in his driveway sooner than expected. I feel bad for everyone in SC, I lived/stationed there for 11 years and it was never that bad.

people just don't realize how strong flowing water is. Or they can't discern how high it really is.

From my days as a Volunteer Fire Fighter, and as a board member of that FD, I learned this; When put in desperate circumstances, people often make irrational decisions. Judgment flies out the window. In the immortal words of Mike Tyson, "Everyone has a plan 'til they get punched in the mouth".

I was about 11 when my parents home was flooded and we lost just about everything. That left a lasting impression on me. Our current home is on a hill top. (On a road named Hilltop) The town is MOUNT Washington. That should provide an adequate description of my choice of location to build a house. My back yard is literally the highest point in a 5 mile radius. If we flood, EVERYONE is in major trouble.

These sorts of natural disasters leave scars that may never heal. My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone effected.

That reminds of another situation that makes me wonder what goes through peoples' minds. We've had a few homes up here be taken by naturally braiding rivers ... Why would you build your home on the same geographic plane with, and within several 100 yards of a naturally braiding river? No offense to anyone intended, it just doesn't pass the logic check in my mind.

I flash back to my youth at 17 and faced a similar situation. Back country road had flooded, as it always did, and I was in a type 10 cavalier hatchback. Taking my girlfriend home at around 11 pm I saw the water and proceeded to drive through it. Half way through my car stalled. By this time the water was halfway up my door. Scarred shitless meant nothing to that point in my life. I kept turning the car over and pressing the gas and through the grace of god it started and I was able to make it across. Lots of shit didn't work on my car after that but I was lucky to have lived. Had the water taken my car it would have been hours before anyone would even realize I was gone. I don't know how the car didn't hydro lock but it didn't. It was still running years later long after I sold it. Water is no joke people. I'm lucky to be alive.
