Yeah I know there are a few swaps that could be done, but its like... why not from the factory they literally have the parts that would bolt up. (awd in low is a bit greedy i know.... but i mean... 3rd gen 4runners back in like 2000 got it....)

I see lockers as a preemptive. At 7k feet with drifts, changing road conditions and soft spots off the pack, the locker goes in when the truck goes in 4wd. If you use them reactively they don't seem to be as helpful.

LSDs are great but the lack of control you get from them bugs me. I had a Chevy with a G80 that wouldn't lock if the load was low ie one side in the soft stuff the other on the hard stuff.

Slimy lake beds too. I can say for certain I liked the fact that I could tell the truck exactly what I wanted to do not hope that it would do it.

Aw see, I'm the opposite, I used my locker to get out of situations, not into them.

    most the time anyway

Was taught and did the same thing for a long time. Had a rock crawling friend who advocated preemptive locking, I switched to that method, I found that places that would have been sketchy to do could be done with less speed and more control. My specific use case is BLM and FS roads in the winter. I find having on tap and already good to go. If I do fall off the packed stuff I can keep my momentum and drive it out in one shot as apposed loosing all that momentum and then locking trying to regain that momentum is way more sketchy.

With my last stuck in the mud I was able to lock it when stopped dig and lay rock extensively (before I had boards) and ease my way out of the hole not throwing rocks into my rockers and fenders. (Having had a tire eat a rock on a previous truck)

The factory e-locker is killer in the rocks. I use it a ton on the trails out here in CO.

I will say id never use my locker on plowed icy roads unless absolutely necessary. thats just asking to be pushed straight. 4wd and traction control is best there.

Off road, yeah ill pop the locker in before the going gets rough as like stated makes things way smoother and more effortless.

I think there's a lot of off road enthusiasts here who, in general, make use of lockers more than the norm.

It doesn't snow where I typically drive here, but I probably would make more use of an LSD than my lockers as it rains a ton. That said, I off road quite a bit and have used my lockers on occasion and wouldn't trade it for an LSD. Just depends on your application. Seems like it fits great for you to have the LSD over lockers.

Auto LSD is only in 2WD correct? I almost never use it... if things get slippery (snowy roads/highways, FSRs...), I put in 4WD.

    Can someone change my mind?

TruTrac works in 4WD and locks the wheel solid. Works great in snow, slippery conditions. My older Tacoma had an lsd button but now it’s brake applied assist I believe
