Auto or MT? Big RPM difference between the two at cruising speeds.

Auto. Generally speaking the RPMs are around 2000.

You can also check the gas blend. When i moved to CA my mileage dropped by 10% (my old VW). Turns out the gas in CA has more ethanol (10% summer), which burns cooler burning, but makes your mileage worse. A lot of places switch to "winter blend" fuel which can be around 20% ethanol if I remember correctly. That will make your mpgs worse for sure.

Also luggin around in 6th gear with your foot to the floor trying to maintain speed vs. dropping a gear and getting into powerband will make a difference. That is if you have a 6 spd manual.

If you leave your truck turn on while parking, that could be why the gauge is showing you low mpg.

14.5-15.5mpg tank average usually, but I chock that up to my short city commute to work (less than 5 miles, maybe 15min of driving). I have a slightly heavy foot but not terrible, my short trips just kill my mileage. Usually see around 21-22mpg when doing long trips on the highway.

Stock truck minus slightly bigger tires and exhaust (hence the heavy foot, gotta hear those vrooms).

Some even say keeping the tack under 2000 really helps. That's about 70 MPH in the 4.0L 5 speed AT. I'm guessing the 3rd gen 3.5L 6 speed might run a little lower at 70 MPH.

Lots of hills? Stop and go?

My efficiency is around 15-16L/100km about 14-15mpg when I'm in the city but that's constant stop and go 40km speed limits. 45 min drive home.
Same drive in in the morning is between 12.8-13.8L depending on how many lights I hit. And my truck is pretty modified.

    That and winter gas

I think consumers should be given a choice of what fuel "blend" they want. Forcing "winter blend" just seems wrong and corporate driven. No pump I've ever been to states that it's pumping a different or reformulated gas.

Larger heavier tires could do it. I ran into a guy with one of these trucks that had a slight lift and what looked 33" tires and he claimed 14mpg. Glad I kept mine all stock.

I'm at roughly 19MPG with rural stop and go driving/city driving. I still haven't dipped below 18MPG and I'm over 1,000 miles.

Literally by 1 MPG you ass clown. OP states he does mostly city. With his truck being mostly stock, he shouldn’t see that low of fuel usage.

eat a dick and move on , keyboard warrior.
