i understand that and there is a little trash talking on the frontier forums as well about the tacomas but they aint as bad of trucks as some of you make them to be i mean you act like they are in the chevy colorado and ford ranger laugue. i aint hear to start trouble i just think both frontier and tacoma are almost a like i mean yeah both trucks will have their issues.

yeah the old 3.3's weren't powerhouses but they run good and will last forever just like th tacoma's old 3.4. yeah the new 4.0 in both tacoma and frontier are powerhouses now. the 3.3 s/c with a few small bolt ons can be a powerhouse though and same goes for the 3.4 with the trd supercharger.

My buddy drives a 05 DC Nissan Nismo...and he wishes he would've bought the Yota. Our Suspension is way better (TRD has Bilstein Suspension). Plus we sit up higher. Were lighter so therefore we do better offroad. And our engine is way stronger and it'll last waaaayyyyy longer than any Nissan! Oh and the Frontiers look like a fuckin mini van w/ a bed lol

    Pretty much stock

The suspension can't be compared really, the nismo has bilstein's also.

the taco engine isn't WAY stronger, its actually rated lower in hp and tq.

Reliability...both are good. the VQ is an award winning engine.

If you wanna make comments at least make sure they are correct. comments like yours is what's making the guys on the frontier board laugh at us.

FWIW, I belive Nissan is over rating their engine, or their drive train sucks alot more power than the Tacos do, as the Dynos from the frontier have been in the 200 to 205 hp range.....Dam near identical to the Tacoma.

Dyno readings vary from dyno to dyno, and Im sure state to state. The 2 run on the Dyno I ran on put down 200, and 205 respectivley. My truck put down just under 205. You may know Forntiers, but it doesnt seem you know much about dynos....

I had a VQ35DE engine in my infiniti g35 coupe. I also ran a supercharger with an engine management system, I too know the VQ engines. They are actually pretty strong and can be made to outperform the tacomas with FI (easily) BUT the Nissan drivetrains really suck out the power. If it wasn't for the less than desirable plastic interiors, I would have bought the frontier. All of the cool options are tough to pass up on the high end models.

I know plenty, you stated 200-205, were talking about a 16-21 hp difference, that is considerable. i have seen dyno's for frontiers go as low as 215 but thats it. The dyno will vary depending on manufacter and elevation, but however you want to put it the frontier is higher hp at the flywheel and at the wheel. find me a dyno that shows a 4.0 putting 200 at the wheels because i've never seen one.

It was my buddies Frontier....I'll ask him if he wants to run it again, and see what he says. FWIW, Seems the stock Tacoma is putting out over 250 lb-ft f torque in the dynos I have seen.....The Nissan is only putting down 230?

Sorry....Here is the link for the one I just posted....
    http://utahsr20s.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5137

As you can see, this is a HUGE difference from one dyno to the other.....Interesting, the most hp I found for a STOCK Frontier is the one I posted. 210 hp..... One thing I HAVE noticed, is that those Nissan engines seem to wake up when modded pretty good.

done from a dyno dynamics machine...hmmm no wonder the low readings, the 2nd dyno is from a 1st gen. 3.3

edit...the 2nd dyno, the people couldn't have known what they were doing...u'd be talking almost a hundred hp loss, yea right.
