why would I want to drive 5-10mph OVER the speed limit, wasting more fuel, increasing my stopping distance and reducing my reaction time?

Like I said, GTFO of Texas. The toll road he's talking about is 70 or 75 mph, posted. We have a toll road posted at 85 mph. Take your gas mileage bitching with you when you leave! :crapstorm::thumbsup:

Chill dude. My last two points were regarding safety if you didn't notice.

I bought a Manual because it was "manlier," lol. Turns out nobody gives a flying fuck, so that's not why I'd do it now. I appreciate it more now because I gain significantly more involvement over the truck's driving, especially on trails. Manual+ATRAC+Locker= tons of fun. If I wanted the most capable setup, it would be an auto. Better fuel economy, better offroad manners, MTS/CC/Locker>ATRAC/Locker. I just enjoy the challenge of trying to row my own well.

I don’t know how to drive an automatic. Basically everything I ever had was a stick besides a couple cars. I prefer a stick but was disappointed that I lost the push button start on my unicorn find of a Cavalry blue OR MT with premium and tech package

factory side step, didn't get a chance to do anything to it yet, haven't even got to put it in 4 wheel mode yet. Lame, but I work a lot.
I had manual in my 89. I live in LA, and the traffic sucks. When I got a 99 i said I'd never go back to a stick shift. Used to seem fun, but not after I moved here.

On road, not really that hard to drive well. The trucks have irritating rev hang but that's livable. Trying to wheel well down a trail you have no business being on with inadequate traction, articulation, and gearing? Hell yeah that's challenging. Being in an auto would make every trail I've ever been down easier.

Maybe for an inexperienced operator :notsure: MT has better gearing for trails btw. I don't have any issues on trails here in the Rockies. What kind of hills you got in Illionois?

I love driving a manual, wish I got a manual honestly. But I don’t understand why so many people are bitching about the auto in these trucks. Nothing wrong with it, I dunno if everybody on here came from Tundra’s and decided to switch to Tacos or what. DC long bed was more important to me that than that 3rd pedal.

Edit: Why’s it always a battle of autos are shit manuals are shit. In this day and age both are equally as reliable as the other. Sure anyone can drive an auto, also sure anyone can drive a manual. No difference bys.

The torque converter helps way more than you'd think burning clutches isn't fun. Up here we've got some stuff at the Cliffs, but I go east a lot to TN/KY to do stupid shit in my daily driver. I appreciate you throwing shade though, nice to know the 3G section hasn't changed!

How many clutches have you burnt up on a 3rd gen? Who burns clutches going downhill hill?

I've overheated the clutch 4 times, thankfully all 4 times it has returned to normal after some normal driving. Idk what you mean by downhill tho.

Your point of the better geared MT being inadequate going downhill. Then you mention torque converter, burning clutches, I'm just trying to follow what you're saying. I've had a few beers to but you're all over the place.

Oh, you thought down a trail=downhill. Lol

Let me rephrase so I won't be misunderstood: "Trying to wheel well up/down/along a trail you have no business being on with inadequate traction, articulation, and gearing? Hell yeah that's challenging."

Edit: yes, clearly you've had a few.

What about just regearing the at to 4.88 gears and now have less hunting and better for towing?
