I feel that this should be called the "gen Z anti theft device" soon. Some of us millenials are nearing 30 or more and grew up with junk/manual civics, corollas or other shitmobiles. Alot of the rest of the world still teach/test manual. Its here in the good ole USA where you can pass a driving test in 15 minutes while brain dead... and lots of the young population does not want to be bothered with shifting like a peasant....

Only reason I picked up a 6MT is because that’s what I prefer driving. Never put any more thought into it or tried to justify it.

Well I chose my new OR cement with a Manual because I got bored and tired of my AT taco. It was too sluggish and I felt like the fuel economy wasn't that good anyway. The MT has that control that I like, pulls better, I love using neutral whenever I want or need. The sluggish driving is gone. Fuel economy is only about 1-2 lower mpg and if i drive it right i can hit my old AT MPGs.

Also i feel like the more miles I put into it, the better the tranny drives. It's weird but at first it was rough shifting and shaking when coming to a stop, would lug the engine easy. Now I feel like I can almost come to a complete stop in third gear and the engine will barely shake any more.

Overall I like my driving experience in the manual more than I did my AT.

Toyota sold 245,659 Tacoma’s in 2018 and they are currently on target to exceed that number for 2019. The truck is selling well!

Roughly 5% were manufactured with a manual transmission, so that’s slightly over 12,000 buyers who opted for 3-pedals on the floor.

damn that is an unreal low number, i had no idea its so 'shunned'
i am curious to know what the numbers were for my model year, probably more than 5%

do any of you have a rear window decal indicating you have 3 pedals and are 'real trucks' i saw a decal like that recently on a big Ram diesel and trying to find the exact one

I'd like to see the difference between overseas hilux and the US. I bet they sell way more manuals over there.

As far as why - I just like it. I can predict whats coming up far better than the computer and so I'm always in the right gear when I want to be. Comes in really handy when you're trying to pass in an underpowered vehicle.

    Its also more engaging.

I just turned 30, I've only owned one automatic and every day I wished it was a manual. I actually took my driver test in my mom's 5-spd legacy outback, the DMV guy was amused they don't get that very often.

I drove a 3rd gen 6mt a couple days ago, would pick it over an auto but it’s not that important in a stock Tacoma to me

I have an auto and my previous 2.7 was an auto. I don't really have any complaints with the auto other than it doesn't really tickle my happy place. So I'm trading it for a manual OR because after driving one my happy place was thoroughly tickled...

Which knob is that? The OR I'm getting has the TRD knob but yours looks really good.
