Why more offroads for sale than sport in the secondary market

While scrolling through the buy and sell section on the forum I noticed that a good chunk of the 2016s for sale are OR. There are a few Sports, but given that there are WAY more Sports for sale new than ORs (at my dealership it was like 8:1 Sport to OR) you would think that the secondary market would be the same.

Anyone care to speculate? Bumpy ride? Mileage?

Depends on the market. I would guess that there were more sports at the dealer cause all the or had already sold. More people owning them would mean more selling to trade up lol. I have a sport and love it but from what I've seen on here the ors are way more popular

^^^X2 I think its based on market. I have used the same dealership to buy 14 Toyota's between my family, friends and me. At that particular dealership they only keep the fully loaded Tacoma's and Tundra's on the lot as do a lot of other dealerships do in Northern Jersey and New York City area. It was difficult to find a basic SR5 to even test drive when I was purchasing my 2012. My friend at the dealership had a difficult time trying to get my basic TRD Sport with the basic radio and 17inch rims in my area. Now I generally visit the same area in Vermont over by the White Mountains that has a very large Toyota dealership and each time I have went by the lot I noticed that they stock very few Sport's or OR's. However the have plenty of SR5's.

I think you may be incorrectly assuming that the population here at TacomaWorld is a representative sample of the overall population of Tacoma buyers. I propose that it is not, and that TW is far more heavily frequented by enthusiasts, who by their nature may be more skewed towards the OR models.

Or I could be completely wrong.

I know when I looked at Autotrader and the other used car accumulators here in GA, the OR's were pretty rare, especially 4x4 ORs. On the dealer lots the used Tacos are mostly Sports and SR5s and nearly all 4x2s.

At my dealership, there was hardly a sport to be found. Almost everyone at my work with a taco has an OR (even lots of 4x2). I think certain regions just get what they know their market wants.

Sports and 4x2 are extremely rare in my area.

It was missing the truck for the link you posted. Seems overpriced if it doesn't come with the Qi Charger.

Still don't know what you speak of. No idea what a Qi charger is. Something that is not important to me I guess.

image.jpg It's a cell phone charging area built into the console. No cords you just set your phone down on it. Works on certain smart phones I guess. I have it but haven't tried it.
