It's common not to have duals on Off-Road vehicles because of the possibility of the extra stuff under the truck hanging up on obstacles. AND, most people don't like the sound of duals on a V6. But I agree, I think they look cool.

I just saw a 3rd gen the other day with dual exhaust. Looked okay, just not for me.

I was planning on making the duel exhaust my first modification, however, after listening to how a duel exhaust sounds with the 3.5 I put the project on the back burner. I haven't looked at what's going on with the duel exhaust lately. It would be "Outlaw" behind the California Curtain, and that appeals to me.

If I did the duals, I would run a normal "quiet" muffler. Just go for the look and not the sound.

Yep, for sure, I don't know if I would want to listen to the exhaust compete with the wind noise on long trips.

I like the concept of separate exhaust form the headers. But I don't like the tips or the caddy corner outlet design.

as far as exhaust goes generally, there are not a lot of good custom systems in the 3rd gen world posted up here yet. folks are all over working to figure it out. but regarding a proper dual installation, this is the nicest one you'll find: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-all-gens-welcome.530411/page-4#post-17006723

but i can't comment on his performance. sound clips are nice and the install is very very nice & clean.

i did a full custom single because it suits the motor and the truck. you don't need duals here, and that takes up space, affecting clearance, weight, and heat radiance. i worked mine for tight clearance and performance, and i even had to turn the muffler sideways to preserve a channel for the traction bar (currently uninstalled). not easily possible with duals.

speaking for myself, i have learned a lot about the custom exhaust stuff on this truck by trial & error. now i have a full custom exhaust and am beginning plans to re-do it entirely front to back. Roostfactor is building me a custom tuned Y pipe, that's building off OV's prototype high flow cat tubes, and all the bits in between will be reworked.
