Why no rear fog lamp on vehicles in USA when everyone loves front fogs?

To be real and honest, we are doing poorly with this epidemic because our country is making it political, it’s what we do and continue to fuck up most things because of this. Some day, some day I hope I can vote for someone I want to. I was having a convo with a trucker a few moons ago, the one thing that stuck with me, why would someone spend so much money for a job that “pays” so little.

I hope I didn’t step too deep into the no no land, I try really hard not to.

Uh...but now back to Aliens and fog lamps! Here's a easy reading of the life and recent times of the humble foggies - front and rear. Note the comment about fog lamps illuminating road reflectors and helping avoid single-vehicle accidents too, not just 100+ car pileups in the central valley of CA.

That does it. I need a rear fog light kit for my North American truck. Where are the electrical wizards that generate the cool diagrams and stuff? Slap a TRD logo on it and there's another guy in another thread that'll definitely buy one too.

They're named fog lights for a reason and they're not actually needed until weather or road conditions call for them. I've driven in miles of fog so friggin thick that I couldn't see ten feet ahead and that is not an exaggeration. Not to mention the snowstorms where rear fogs would be greatly appreciated. Yeah, I drive for a living.

It's astonishing how many wannabee's cruise with their fogs on for no other reason than to look cool. I mean, you do realize that it's dark out & that we can't actually see the studliness behind the wheel, right?

Edit: an additional benefit for having rear fogs is getting smoked tail light lenses to cover them up. How cool would that be, eh?

If you think Rear fogs cause a condrum in 'murrica, just point someone to you European car's headlight adjustment dial!
(Y'know - to adjust the light beams when carrying a heavy(er) load than usual...)

How many drivers on the freeways do you think would bother to aim them properly? (Or figure out what the dial is for)

I understand that this capability in an auto is fully illegal in some(?) states...

You idiots ask a question about something we don't have, and remark that we're stupid for not knowing. Classic.

The very first page in the owners manual of a '70 Chevy C-20 states how to properly adjust the headlights when pulling a trailer. I bet there isn't a single person alive today that adjusts their headlights after hooking up a trailer.

Lol, please don’t take it personally.

But there have been few comments that prove some people are idiots. Plenty of cars in USA have rear fogs. Throughout this thread it appears the Americans that know about the rear fogs are people that A. Read the instruction manual that comes with the car. B. Have a passport or C. Have served in a foreign country (thank you for your service).

The original question is asking why it’s not a requirement in the USA when it is mandatory in many other countries...

I had a car that rear fog lights (Audi) and I was tired of people constantly coming up to me telling me my right rear taillight was about to go out. :angrygirl:

I remember the German cars also had parking lights. In some smaller towns where the roads are very narrow they have alternate parallel parking.
The parking light is activated by the turning signal. Whichever side you pick a red light will be dimly lit. The front amber light on that same side will also be lit.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I’m not sure it was limited to just German cars. Can’t swear though as until America I had only owned VW’s, might be another EU thing.

I don’t understand, is that because you had it turned on all the time?

CITY Lights is another cool feature that is obscure in the US... (These are Headlamps that are at a lower brightness for use in low speed settings (e.g. city center)).

I would bet that it would take 15 minutes for the first lawsuit to be filed due to these...
