I have a 2011 SR5 and do not have the temp/direction. I had a loaner rig for a month recently, and it had that feature. I really like that and wish mine had that. There is a space for one below the nav lights (see photos). I’ve always wondered where they put the outside sensor. I would think it could not be anywhere the engine heat or sun would effect it. Are there units that would fit in that space? If so, where would one find them?

To revive this thread, I just got a 2015 TRD Sport and can't believe it doesn't have a temperature indication either. I now know why there are two sun-glass holders in the overhead console but I'd rather retrofit to that temp module from prior years. Has anyone done this successfully? Is it wired for it still?

Yes that Gentex looks nice for $260 but so does my stock mirror. It has the homelink/autodimmer/compass display and I like it but the only thing lacking is the temp readout. I also like the OEM look of the previous temp/compass in the overhead console. Is this retrofit possible by replacing the extra sunglass holder with that module? Is it wired for it still?

I'm still thinking there has to be an alternative to spending $229 to regain a formerly included option. Can't I just get that overhead module from the wrecker and hook it up, and turn off the direction indication in the mirror if I don't like having two compass displays?

I'm trying to learn if the overhead wiring connector is installed and if the sensor is in front of the radiator already. Any advice on my desired solution is welcomed.

That's exactly what I want. Don't mind work at all. Will I find that there is still factory wiring there? Or is that the 'work' you're referring to?

I've got the weather app on my Entune. It updates every 5 minutes. And I'm sure it's just as accurate as the temperature gauge

That would be nice too. My Entune unit says its up to date and I haven't added other apps. Can I do this on the version without Nav display?

My 2015 has the mirror compass (factory) and I can get the temp from the weather app in Entune.

Don't know why not. I don't have navigation. I didn’t have to add it. It was already there. It's been a few years since I messed with it, but I think it's under screen options

You need to post a WTB add in the for sale section for someone who has the console (or junkyard) then you use that one as a swap, or cut the temp module out and insert in the sunglass position in order to maintain your bluetooth mic. Then you run two wires from the temp sensor by your radiator all the way to the overhead console and pull power from the mirror plug tucked under the headliner. Hardest part is finding the unit and running the wires. I believe we went into more detail on it in my build thread. Couple of how to threads floating around here too

Awesome build! Thanks for that info.

I don't have that app or XM radio. I think I'll do the mod above. And the clock of course!

Oh ok. I guess I have the mid grade head unit...no navigation but everything else. It includes a built in Weather Channel app.

Mine went out about a year ago. I kind of want to rip it out and 3D print something to take its place and be functional but I don’t know what.
