    Haha! Nothing wrong with that.

As long as you are playing any guitar, it’s already great!

what is your definition of extreme offroading? To me it is doing high speed through the desert. Others say it is slow rock crawling. Depends on your need

get a beater Tacoma, regear, locker, mod and not worry about getting a scratch on it.

I’m not one to do the slow crawling, mud stuff, seems more like normal offroading to me, but your options are plentiful for it

Slow rock crawling is the only place a Jeep will outdo a Toyota. That said I still like my vehicles to be reliable (and not French) so I’ll still always buy whatever is most reliable day to day and in remote places.

A Toyota will outdo a Jeep in muddy ruts?

20200725_171906_HDR.jpgThere she is in all her glory boys. The Epi Les Paul Custom Pro. It's honestly pretty great for what it cost me. Just enough humbucker to have that LP growl. Obviously, the doggo thinks it's a Gibson.

To me extreme off roading is anything that has a high likelihood of breaking your truck, you, or both. Regular off roading is a lower likelihood of breaking anything. The chance is still there but not as bad.

Not sure what you mean by muddy ruts but for the rock crawling we’re talking about Solid Axle vs. IFS more than brand vs. brand here.

Sounds like you need to do some research in that area.

If you’re wanting to do some down south breaking things for fun mudding then whatever you can fit the tallest tires on and has the most power may be a better bet for you. But out of the box a Jeep will take much larger tires than a Toyota. And with slight modification it will take even larger tires.

I hate Jeeps, I dig Toyotas, but I also hate mudding and have no interest in ultra slow rock crawling up a rock wall. I’d rent or borrow to do things like that.

For your definitions it sounds like you want a Jeep.

But to be honest, based on how you’re wording your questions, I’m going to assume you’re dreaming of rock crawling and mudding but will be driving to work and would advise you to just buy a used Tacoma or 4Runner and work into things in your own experience in your own time.

i like the definition. Makes sense.

however, is there a skill level/experience in which extreme offroading becomes normal offroading because the risk goes down?

Judging by the amount of spare parts that are carried by the high skill / experienced people, that answer is "No." They learn what parts are probably going to break.

Good question and point. I would say that regardless of skill, there is a high aspect of risk. Rock crawling steep narrow grades with cliffs or bombing down the desert at 70mph both introduce risk regardless of skill.

    I've had both.

The Jeep is much more capable offroad in both stock or modified form. For mudding, my Jeep outperformed my F150 and Taco by a wide margin. The wider tires and sway bar disconnects made a huge difference that I couldn't see a stock (or even modified) Tacoma competing with. Sure both are more capable than the average truck/car, but the jeep will almost always win.

That said, offroading is the only thing that my jeep did better than either of my trucks. It was loud, unreliable, uncomfortable, and got 9 miles to the gallon with 35's. The Tacoma is better in every other aspect. Personally, I got tired of repairs and don't do much mudding these days, but you have to ask yourself, "How often am I going to be driving the truck, and how often will I be offroading the truck"? I could traverse offroad better in a pair of boots, but that doesn't mean I want to walk to work every day.

Get a beater or find something you could live with daily.

Man, you nailed it. I believe it's a 3-tone - it's one of 500 made in 2013 as part of a special MIJ release of the 58RI's. I definitely kept the stock PUPs. I think every guitarist has a Frankenstrat laying around somewhere to hold all of their spare parts lol.

To be completely honest, I think tele's are rad - got that old school "Keef" Richards vibe when he played "Can't You Hear Me Knocking". I dig the twang of a tele, I just started with a strat because I wanted to rock "Yellow Ledbetter" and other Jimi-esque songs haha

Ha I think that's why it stands for "Fix It Again, Tony" instead of "Fix It Again, Toussaint"?
