Out here they put some black vinyl material below the drivers side window. I don't actually what it is, but appears to be a grippy type of material. Saves the car I guess? Makes a more stable shooting platform?

A lot of people swear by the stuff. The xterra boards like it

I've always went rustoluem bed liner with all my trim and stuff. Good results, only downside is it's like spray paint

close. but it was hard to add the barbed wire in dip. but I nailed the Chinese character for "fearless" even though my Chinese friend says it's actually "head in ass", but what does he know?

What do you mean its' like spray paint? I've been looking at using that stuff versus plastidip to paint my grille. Any comments on how well it's held up?

Thanks for all the replies. Ya learn something new everyday! I'm going to have to give it a try on the grill and maybe rear bumper.

I just meant it's a permanent kind of deal. I did all the plastics on my xterra, and even after 2 years the plastic still looked awesome. held up extremely well

We trimmed a buddy of mines fenders on a Cherokee, and then painted the whole front fenders, he's 3 yrs in with that and still looks like we did it yesterday

    I recommend it

Holds up great. Much better wearing than plastidip and looks better too imo.

Buy a 300 grit 3M Scuff Pad and the blue can of Duplicolor bedliner spray and get to work.

    Remove and disassemble grill
Use scuff pad and rough up the chrome thoroughly. It looks like stainless steel when done.
Spray light coats of Bedliner from 6-9" from surface moving can rapidly.
Alternate angle of can for each coat to ensure complete coverage. Wait 5 minutes between coats.
Keep spraying additional coats until the can is gone.

Looks awesome and I am going to do it to my grill too.

I know this is a dumb question but I'm going to ask anyway: Did you prep/spray the backside of your grill? :anonymous:

Don't like it...peel it off and try again. Easily reversible is why
I'd think most, including myself do it. If you do like it, peel it
off and then make it permanent... that's my intention when I
did the grille, but after more than a year, the dip on the grille looks
like I put it on there last week - not a single chip or mark in it.

I'm just lazy. Less prep time and less drying time.

Not a dumb question at all. Great call out.

I did make a quick pass with the 3M pad, wiped it down with the degreaser and sprayed a coat from the back.

I swear by plasti dip. I took the time to sand, prime and color match my front emblem. a week later it was already chipped, I plastidipped that along with all my badges and 2 years later it still looks mint, no chipping or anything. I just like how its all the fun of painting without the commitment, and if you mess up theres no real penalty
