With all the issues these things are having (aka new model bugs, he he). Is it even worth looking at a 2017 PRO or should I wait at least until 2018?

Over 44K Tacomas has been sold since Jan 1st this year. I have not seen enough folks with vital or concerning issues around here to keep me from buying one. Basically, check your AT tranny fluid level if you get the tow package, check your U-bolt torque, and get the hood checked if it vibrates. If you get an MT, watch for it getting stuck in gear and get the dealer to check it. Did I miss anything?

Edit: Grease those U-joint jerks on your driveline if you have them.

I haven't seen a huge deluge of issues, considering the number of trucks sold. I think one or two engines have gone belly-up...out of tens of thousands, that sucks, but happens. I think if you review what the "bugs" are and make sure to mitigate all known issues, you will be fine. It's still a Toyota.

Edit 2: List of issues here to keep an eye on and take care of: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tips-and-tricks-on-the-2016-tacoma.411911/

Don't forget the various driveline vibrations and a handful of CPS failures.

The major killer that you forgot to mention is the steering wheel and gas pedal buzzing/numbing vibration that a questionably high number of 4x4 owners are experiencing. No fix yet and it is mighty annoying. Best part is Toyota seems to tell most people "it is normal" and if you look back over the years they have done the same to other model owners as well (not just tacoma). Only time will tell if we are the lucky ones to be heard and get a fix....

There are plenty at dealerships in Pittsburgh. I counted eight at the dealership that I drive by on the way to work. Six out front and two near the garage.

North Hills on McKnight. I think at least one of the two not in the picture were ORs. I live closer to Baierl in Cranberry and they had quite a few last time I drove past as well.

There are comparatively few 3rd gen Tacoma owners on this forum compared to the many many new owners of the 3rd gen all around the country. Considering the numbers of issues encountered by these "few 3rd gen owners" on this forum, it is a fair bet that many owners (non TW folk) are experiencing the same issues, but may not even know or recognize them as issues. They may not know any better because they haven't owned a Tacoma in the past. I am a pretty big Toyota fanboy, but I have to admit, I am more than disappointed in this redesign, especially after 10 years.

There are a few dealerships here in SoCal that have over 20 trucks on the lot but they are the dealers charging 3k over msrp.

Our local dealers in northern Colorado, southern Wyoming usually only have a couple on the lot. The next day it will be one or two.

It definitely sounds like a regional thing. I have yet to see a PRO (Tundra/(2nd gen)Tacoma/Four Runner) on any of the dealer lots here in Utah.

My local dealer has only a few on the lot, but uses a satellite lot for overstock.
I always see a few new tacomas & tundras there.
On the road, I'm seeing ALOT more 3GENs. Tacomas are super popular here.
Even with the road salt etc it doesn't stop people from buying em or modding them.
At work there is probably close to 20+ tacomas mix Gens, next F150s, followed by Tundras.
My job is to give out RFIDs for vehicles so I see what everyone drives :p

Must be regional...When I got mine in February, it was literally the only TRD OR 4x4 DC in all of Southern California (believe me I had everybody looking). I gladly paid sticker and never looked back. ZERO problems with this baby.
