Thank you for the information! Makes me feel better that’s not going to ker-splode!
As it kicks in I think to myself, “damn, why such aggressiveness?” Ha

Oh, thanks for bringing up the gauges, he didn’t want to attach them either for the same reasons

or just replace the schrader valves for $12
They get stuck open because they don’t get cycled
Which if you recharge as good maintenance that cycles them and they can be replaced easily during a recharge

probably the one thing in the entire ac system that is the cheapest and easiest to replace

    that’s not a mechanic

Vehicles have not had a separate receiver drier since 08.
After that it was built into the condenser. Which is not a big deal to replace given the condenser is $100.

sometimes they are still serviceable and come as a desiccant bag that can be removed from the condenser by unscrewing the cap for it

Don’t overthink and maintenance something to death. It is a sealed system and if it is working you don’t touch it.

My compressor is fine, and my A/C is ice cold now, but I guess you could say that my evaporator core "blew up".

Thankfully, my A/C never fully quit working; I noticed in June 2017, with about 75K miles on the clock, that the far right vent was blowing hot and humid outside air. My mechanic at the time pressure tested the system but couldn't find the leak, and simply recharged it. It was blowing colder out of that right vent, but to this day it still doesn't feel as cold as it should be; I've just learned to live with this, but at the time I knew there was a leak.

In April 2018, I took this girl I'd just started dating to a car show in New Jersey, and it was blowing warm out of that far right vent again. My mechanic recharged it, but by July 2018 it was doing it again. I needlessly replaced a blend air door, and the I realized it was actually getting progressively worse, so I finally swallowed my pride and brought it to the dealer.

The found it to be a pound low on refrigerant as of August 2018 and not only charged it, but UV dye in the system; I was instructed to bring it back in a few weeks, to allow the dye to run its course. I brought the truck back and it was the worst case scenario. The evaporator core was leaking, so I opted to just get it replaced. That was almost four years ago, and though the A/C system did have to be evacuated and dismantled when my frame was replaced in November 2021, I haven't had any problems with the A/C since.

I just installed a compressor I got from napa - the condenser is coming from rock auto that will get here Monday. I have the txv valve I will replace this afternoon. My high pressure discharge hose I replaced as well. This sucks

Btw the denso compressor comes with the sensors and harness attached. If I knew the beforehand I’d have spent the money to go oem because I need a pickup sensor and ordering one cost me 120$ and I won’t have it until maybe middle of September. Faaa-Q
