Great tires. They do it all, well. Have had over 10 sets, going back before KO. Currently have KO2s on 5 trucks & jeeps.

    Sure...

Here's a quote from someone from Hawaii on another forum:

"Currently have these (BFG T/A AT KO2) all E-Rated on 4 vehicles: 2020 4Runner, 2017 Tacoma, 2000 Tundra & 1994 Wrangler. Have bought & run many other sets over the years, and the BFG predecessors. Lava roads and lava on the sides of unpaved roads, and lots of trucks hauling construction materials leaving nails & sharp metal behind, make the roads out here toxic for lesser tires.
We've found these to be the survivors"

    Weird, right?

It's crazy how about 90% of the people who have actually used these tires have nothing but praise for them. Yet, somehow, a handful of people claim they're garbage. It would be interesting to know what factors contributed to a few people's bad experience.

Considering all manufacturer tire replacement guides/suggestions/etc are by depth and/or age and not mileage...

But why follow manufacturer guidelines when some random dude on TW clearly knows better?

Me either. Like I said in my original post my GF's Tundra had a set on when she bought it. I drove it more than her through two full Utah seasons. If you live in Utah you can get all four seasons in 2 weeks.

Because they wear differently depending on a multitude of factors. Personally, I'm surprised they offer any warranty at all, aside from warranty against defects.

Have fun up there! The only people listening are the ones who already agree with you.

Maybe they sucked for your application, but they were excellent for mine.

KO2s worked great today. 25 mile round trip to work and back. No issues to report. /sarcasm off

I’ll jump into this and give my opinion. I’ve had my Tacoma for a total of 4 years now, this is also my first vehicle so I don’t have a ton of knowledge with other tires. My first set of tires were toyo M/T tires. Great tires off-road, looked good, pretty quiet for a mud terrain. However they were terrible in wet weather or slightly slick roads. My parents switched to BFG KO2 on my moms 4Runner from nitto trail grapplers. I was blown away at how much quieter and smoother they rode. So after that experience I wanted them, mainly due to the fact they were snow and ice rated. My thoughts after about 5k miles on them: wow I can actually stop in winter time and almost never slide in places I did before, super quiet and ride really smoothly. I can’t speak about fuel economy accurately due to going up in tire size. I’ve only gone off-road with them in snow, all I can say is don’t expect them to be a true off-road tire like others, I was the first in our group to get stuck in a snow bank due to not hitting it with enough speed. Got slowed down in snow more than others. They do dig quite a bit though, I was able to bury it to the frame in a snowbank. So to prevent this from going on any longer here’s to sum it up. If you want to compromise with on road performance and off-road performance try them out. Just be smart when wheeling and know your lines and if you push it have someone there to help you get out. I like these tires but I want to try some others out too. This is IMO the best way to find your favorite tire is to try them out yourself. I want to try the Toyo r/t tires but so far I am really enjoying these. Sorry for making this so long.

This is an example of one of the areas my crew and I drive for work, multiple times per week, in a variety of vehicles including a Frontier, Tacoma, Ram 1500, and F-250. If you plan on driving this kind of terrain often, the BFG is going to disappoint.

Somehow I respect your opinion much more than the guys shouting KO2s suck with no reason given.

I’ve taken my KO2s wheeling in death valley, Moab, Wyoming, all over Colorado They did great for me. And they’ve currently got 74000 miles with even wear. However I don’t exclusively drive in that terrain like yours crew does, like most daily driver types in TW most of my miles are pavement.

what would you recommend instead of these? My wife and I are moving back to NM so I plan to do a lot more wheeling out west very soon. I like the idea of a more aggressive tire that will handle well as I wheel out west more and more, but also can handle the twice yearly 3-5k road trip and commuting 30miles each way.

These tires have worked so well for me and lasted so long, that it’s hard for me to consider switching. But am open to something better. I like the idea of MTs but and not sure If that’s the best option for my DD.

That looks like a job for E rated mud tires. I wouldn't recommend ANY all terrain in your scenario.

Overall agreement, but we also have to be able to roll with lights and sirens at high speeds on the highways for fairly long distances, so full MT's don't quite fit the bill, either. While they did get chipped to heck, the Cooper Discoverer A/T3's lasted quite a long time, and I've had very successful runs with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I currently have a store room full of Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires I'll be running on the fleet to hopefully see some longer service life.

It seems like an exceptionally demanding type of use. I would look at Maxxis for that kind of abuse. I was really liking the Razr MT's, but Decided to go with AT's again. So far, these Toyos are really nice.

The guy in the silver Jeep seems to do just fine with his KO2s in the video.

You missed my point. Occasional weekend warrior use is probably going to be fine. Continued, hard use will render them inadequate.
