good to know. Just trying to figure out if I want to pay his price or if I just want to go to car toys and see what they got going on. Maybe one of those ones where you can use your smart phone.

The smart phone apps you have to pay a yearly fee I think < $100 but have more options
12 v solutions sells a plug and play, I think the is a member here to that does but can’t recall the name

Good to know! I’ll have to check out 12v solutions. See if it’s easy enough for me to install and program myself.

Does anyone have any experience with these 12volt solution remote starts? Just checked them out and they seem super easy and best way to go. Just wondering what the standard range is.

Edit: here’s another option via Amazon. Start-X remote start kit. Looks like a clone of the 12volt solutions one, just cheaper. Same exact install lol. It will only have the range of your lock unlock key fob unless you get the phone or other fob option. I’ve got a viper (ds4 I think) Best Buy, mated with my fob but also comes with its own fob which I use, stated range is 1500 ft, Ive used it around 300 ft, can start from my bed which is on opposite side of house. I think the others have a fob option, just have to check, I got it before I knew of other options but had it on my 18 and this one with no issues.

Can I ask what this ran you budget-wise? Considering the different options out there, but I really wanted to stick with OEM fob, as well as something that offered the cellular control option.

I was originally leaning towards the Start X Plug and Play module.

The viper was $269 installed by Best Buy, That included the long range fob. It has a cellular option with a yearly fee, less than 100 per year I believe but I don’t have it. I don’t have any experince with the others,

I chose the viper ds4+ as it was less of a hack job with the available t-harness to add a full security setup ( shock, tilt, glass break). Call me old fashion but I don’t like to butcher factory wiring and the toyota system doesn’t have an easy way to add these features. The piece of mind is worth the slightly higher price.
