Naw I agree with you. Consumer data is extremely valuable.

All this can only mean one thing... The Jeep JL has better fenders than a 3rd gen Tacoma.

Except... every major manufacturer cares how they stack up. Remember it's a capitalistic society. JD Power has a place at the table.

No, most manufacturers defects show up immediately. Only poor design shows up after three years.

In a capitalistic society, its consumer's choice. If the consumer has faith or not in the award is what matters.

I've been a Jeep guy for a decade now and I still have my 06 Wrangler Unlimited even though I bought my '21 Taco.

That said there's a reason I bought a Toyota when I was looking at a new vehicle instead of another Jeep. All the Jeep pages and groups I'm a part of I see almost nothing but 'oh I broke down again #justjeepthings ' or the colloquial ' Just Empty Every Pocket ' hell my Jeep has needed a couple thousand in non standard upkeep and it's considered damn reliable comparably.

Jeeps are cool off road rigs but fall very short in the daily driver category in every way.

Guess I should have noted this is the 3rd gen forum after all. You're going to look at newer vehicles different than someone like me, who doesn't buy anything newer than 3 years old.

When I bought my 16 SR5 I was pretty shocked at the bizarre ass shifting of the automatic, I could see a few things people might complain about. Overall I was fairly happy with the truck but the transmission was always a wtf. My 21 manual on the other hand I really don't have any complaints with, same solid truck without the weirdo shifting unless I'm doing it.

    Awesome! Love my manual taco.

With a few simple mods it really makes it a lot more fun to drive.

Bragging about getting a jd power award is like bragging about paying for sex. Toyota owners are also super picky compared to jeep owners, so many threads on this site are just people complaining. Jeep owners put up with a lot of BS that’s why they are still
in business. Also it should really be called a “customer satisfaction award” as they rank in people’s opinions or complaints with actual quality issues. First 90 days is also a weak metric. At the end of the day it’s smart marketing, they conflate ‘quality’ with initial customer satisfaction on purpose to confuse people, look at how Chevy uses them to advertise. At the end of the day there is too much conflict of interest for consumers to put much weight in their recommendations or awards. Are they helpful for the auto industry by gauging small annoyances people have with their cars? Sure. I’d rather have information about how a new vehicle will perform over the long run and if there is any known issues I will have to pay for in the future. Some Karen’s opinion about the infotainment system or cup holders don't really matter as much to me.

There’s no tougher engine than one built to handle “minivan duty”.

Had a Jeep Wrangler as a rental. Only had about 3k miles but so many rattles and sounded loose inside. I know rentals get abused but this was just something else.
