I had a friend in high school who did a burnout once by putting the car in neutral, flooring it, waiting several seconds and then putting it in drive. The tire screeching lasted several seconds. The car still ran fine afterwards.

The short answer to why the truck wont do it is... because it's not supposed to.

Manufacturers spend a lot of time and money making sure the vehicle is always doing it's best to be under control.

Nothing useful to contribute here, but I read this and wanted to add . . .

I am solidly middle-aged. I am responsible. I am practical. I generally make good decisions. One of my all time favorite vehicles was a base-model minivan and I don't even have children. No one would ever describe me, at any point in my life, as especially "fun" or prone to frivolity. Such is my nature.

    And yet.

You know what I find myself doing in my Tacoma? Yup, that's right: occasional loosey-goosey wheelspinning shenanigans on the dirt roads to and from the trailheads I frequent. Is it great for my truck? Probably not. Is it particularly mature? I suppose not. But is it fun? Yes. Yes, it is.

A fellow I went to school with did that with his mothers 460 power Ford station wagon.

    Blew bits-o-transmission on the street.

He worked all summer and most of the fall to pay for the repair and never drove her car again.

I was able to do excellent drifting in the rain with my truck running KO2s and with TC completely off.

I have a different issue in my 2019 SR 2TR-FE 4 cylinder. I can get a tire screech when I floor it from a dead stop, but unable to do lay down extensive rubber for a 100 ft burnout. Please help what am I doing wrong.
