Last time I pretended to be WhistlinDiesel, I put an inch-long crack in the wheel:

By the end of the 20-mile trail, the crack had grown several-fold and no longer held air. Entirely my fault for sending it too hard. Pay to play:

FACT: this is all just your opinion
Meanwhile, 100’s of thousands of these “disposable” wheels are out there working great. Until of course, you hit something and then they fail, like yours did.

Konig Six Shooter. The tire caught air and landed with the rim lip smashing directly into a rock.

In case you were wondering, JWL doesn't test wheels smashing into rocks. All the impact tests are done through the tire.

I was lucky the wheel held air until the end of the trail, so I could change to the spare in the air-up area, on flat even ground.

Coilovers, sway bars, wheels, tires, extended studs, intake, head and taillights, seats, short shifter,
This is actually what you want a wheel to do, to fail via deformation. When they crack it's much worse. Cheap wheels sometimes have the entire face separate from the rim on impact.

I took a 1" chunk out of the bead on my six shooter by  hitting a rock on a trail. Held air through the day. Bought a replacement. Trying not to hit my wheels against rocks anymore.

I bought these wheels to be used offroad, they were literally purchased to be abused. Yeah I'm pissed because the wheel deformed in conditions it was marketed to be used in. It's a 3rd gen taco, I'm not bombing through a rock garden.

Moral of the story, KMC is for parking lot princesses (providing you stay away from curbs and speed bumps)

The only wheels that can be "abused" offroad are steel with beadlocks and why many people add inner wheel bead stiffeners....yes you can add wheel stiffeners designed to increase strength to a steel wheel. Steel wheels can be field repaired and hammered and welded back together.

Moreover, if you bought a wheel to be abused offroad you should expect them to fail. Anyone who offroads know things break so you should have understood this when buying them.

Moral of the story is if you dont know what your doing, then don't complain if it doesnt work out. IF you are gonna get mad when things break, keep your truck in the parking lot.

I break all sorts of shit and don't get mad about it. I'm just frustrated because I shouldn't have to be concerned about out driving the wheel. I do a mix of prerunning and trails, and something like this could be absolutely catastrophic at speed.

Whatever happened to the wheel didn't even phase the suspension in the truck. I've had a few run ins of jumping a curb in other vehicles on OEM wheels and had zero issues. This must have happened on a forestry road at no more than 40. It was a relatively tame weekend for me because I had to slow down for the Jeeps to keep up. Therefore I question the quality of their wheels and manufacturing process, especially when they're marketed for these type of activities.

This..gov regulation isn't the answer. Free market sorts itself out, usually. Word spreads fast when companies sell garbage.

Touche, but that does leave the customer on the hook to figure it out on their own.
