I'd get the MT....you'll use the transmission more than you'll use the extra foot of bed length ( and you only get that with the tailgate up)

Especially in traffic jams. Been there, done that. I'd vote for the extra length and no more clutch slipping. After having both multiple times, totally depends on your situation. Miss MT except in traffic, AT is better if you use it as a commuter. IMO.

Same stupid reason we can't get an access cab OR in MT.

Almost nobody (in the US) wants a manual transmission on their truck, and few a DCLB. Why would they combine the two?

Tacoma buyers aren't normal truck buyers. definitely a higher percentage of Tacoma buyers prefer MT compared to, say, your average F150 buyer.

Perhaps, but is it enough to bother making a combo of two major, unpopular options?

Who knows? I understand your logic but then explain why you can't get AC in a TRD OR with M/T! Toyota is just weird!

As superior as manual transmissions are for enthusiasts, let's not kid ourselves....most people prefer autos. Can't fault Toyota for their decisions, if they would sell them they would make them. I almost got a manual but for my commute and daily driving it would have been a pain. For a weekend vehicle...manual all the way.

I absolutely agree with this, if my wife had not fallen in love with the '09 DCSB we bought last October--thus sparing me the significant hassle of getting SWMBO approval to spend $18k¹, I would have found an access cab with the 6 ft bed...

Living near the Los Angles area and using a Tacoma as a daily driver, auto is the only way to go with bumper to bumper traffic. And on the trail the auto is fine. I have to assume there's not a big demand for manual trans.

I moved from a 2011 TRD OR AC manual to a 2015 DCLB auto and have not regretted it at all. Yes I do commute, I get better mpg in the auto and these autos just don't fail as much as they used to..

I wanted the long bed with the manual too. Unfortunately between the two, giving up the manual is not even a consideration for me. I commute daily with this truck. In the Bay Area no less. Not sure what all the fuss is about with it being an issue in traffic...

Because you and about 6 other guys are the only ones that would buy one. Toyota does a pretty decent job of producing what sells. Companies who try to please everyone end up going out of business because they can't make a profit. Henry Ford figured this out long ago with his original assembly line. You could get one any color you wanted as long as it was black. Ford made 'em all alike, sold a better car than the competition at less cost and made more profits.

I had two F150s back to back then to my Taco. I only wanted a M/T. One got traded at my dealer and was all over it. 6speed DCSB TRD OR. I would never have wanted a F150 in MT. But the tacomas i dont know what it is. I just love them in M/T, I have had one before and never had a problem.
I know this may piss people off but if you complain about a M/T in Traffic then maybe you should get a auto. Not saying anyone is but just saying in general, I always have to listen to people. You drive a M/T, they still make those things? What about traffic? What about it? Its like a person with a truck complaining about ur MPG. I just don't get it.
