I think it's pretty cool. Being able to access the internet whenever you want from where ever.

Good lord. Plans start at $29 bucks a month. No thanks.

 

att and verizon have that wireless PC card for laptops..

 

when driving obviously.

What the hell? Wi-fi for your vehicle? Is your truck a personal computer now? where would it take the signal from, and put the signal to? Seems like you can bypass the whole thing by using a laptop, maybe? Seems silly, I know, but I do believe that those things work no matter if you're at home, in starbucks, or in your truck.

Sorry for the bashing...but I honestly don't have any clue why anybody would use this.

I think this is a system that takes a 3g cell phone signal, and then broadcasts it via wi-fi to everyone's peripherals in the vehicle, such as laptops, psps, smartphones, etc. while on a roadtrip. Why you'd rather twitter than talk to your friends, I have no idea.

And accessing the net from wherever whenever...it's called a modern cell phone. Or a 3g access card for your laptop. The technology has been out for like a decade now.

 

Not looking to get it just thought it was cool and it has never come up on the forum before. My phone gets internet and that's what I use in a pinch. Just thought it was cool technology.

I have an old Tmobile wing that runs windows mobile OS that has wi-fi capabilities. It isn't my phone anymore but I can still roll with the pocket pc on the belt clip for out of town trips or have something to do if hanging out at Starbucks on rare occasions for free access instead of paying for web access on my actual phone.

 

It sucks you have to pay for it....I had to buy a 10 dollar cable and that was it for my first phone....Now it's 15 bones a month to do the same thing. Cheaper than getting a separate air card type device- but still bullshit.

 

i have the tmobile shadow and im pretty sure I can hook it up to the laptop and get interwebz

 

Just buy Mifi
