Insurance is a good thing! You pay good money for it every month, if it is a legitimate claim and worth it to you, you should use it. Maybe a chunk of your wedding is paid for now, and as a gift to yourselves...new (to you at least) vehicles? Hoping for best of bad situation, I've seen insurance go further than you ever expected without any input from you, just submit your claim. As long as premiums are paid on time and no prior claims, they tend to take care of you. I had a total loss about 9 years ago (not my fault, rear ended) and they had a check for me in less than a week for the highest book value available, from any book, plus cash value for any mods on the car.

Thanks man, I may take up your offer on the help! As for the DJ, we've already booked one, but thanks for offering. Most of the wedding is planned and deposits are paid, but it's coming up with the other half that's kicking our ass.

I agree, I'm hoping this turns out to be a blessing in disguise. Been with progressive for 5 years now and never had any wrecks, late payments, or any issues at all with them. Sounds like your insurance company was badass, who was it?

You'd def save some coin hanging the new sheet metal (or fibre glass :D) if you did it with our help, I think one of these chuckleheads knows s paint/body guy, Aaron Brady?

I insure with USAA, best insurance going...best rates and customer service around. Highly recommend if you can get it. Nary a bad review...The hitch? Only open to military, vets and their spouses/kids.

I do. He's pretty good too. Complete Customs. It's down on North Broadway just before 29th on the left. And maybe I do lurk... but I was also trying to catch some lightning pictures, but the damn trees are in my way of the good stuff out south.

Yep, I just called them up and gave USAA my dads social security # and they were able to look up his service records and verify my relation to him via their database(he is a member), very easy to do. You can use his USAA member number in lieu of ss if he is a member. If your pops is not a member, you can still join due to his service (thank him though!)

Ok here's attachments of a few pics of the hail damage.

First pic is the hood - notice the HUGE one close to the passenger side headlight. This one cracked the paint. A LOT aren't visible in the pic - especially on the hood scoop, that thing is trashed.

Second pic is one of the dents on that thin panel above the doors - the expensive ones - I'm counting 6 on the passenger side panel and 3 on the driver side.

Third pic is of the roof - you can see the dents on there a lot better than my hood, but my hood looks very similar.

What do you guys think? :notsure:

While I'm at it posting pics, I'll throw one up of the new toy I mentioned a few weeks ago. Just picked up a sweet 4x mil-dot scope from cabela's, clearanced from $70 down to $30. Haven't zeroed it in yet.

Ok, maybe not bombproof as it thought. I have a few dents and I lost one of the weather strips up top. Dammit.

I dunno Roy...how many total dents would you guess? is it every panel? is the one above the light the deepest? Insurance may want to fix that, not sure they would total it, given the age and the fact you have no glass or other damage such as broken lights/plastic (mirrors/grille). I'd be interested how it turns out...

I'm sure the pics don't do it justice, hard to capture the extent of hail in photos due to lighting and angles.

Edit: I'm no insurance adjuster, so what the hell do I know...

    Best of luck!

    Bummer Josh...

Dang, need to go see about those optics. Good choice on the AFG. Make that rifle super comfy to shoot.

Yeah the pics really don't do it justice. Probably 25-30 on my hood, and around 50 on the roof. about 10 on those thin panels above the doors, and a few on my front bumper. There may be more, but I've only spent about 2 minutes looking at the truck. I agree it may not be totaled, but if it's not, I'm sure it'll still be a large check. We'll see what the options are, I'll keep the updates on here. They said I should be getting a call within 1-2 business days to set up an appointment with an adjuster.

Yes, I love the AFG (It's actually the AFG2, smaller than the original). I tried it first towards the front of the quad rail, which is said to best the "most naturally comfortable position." I completely disagree after experimenting, but to each his own. I find I can keep much more steady and comfortable with it closer to the mag, like a VFG.

No doubt, you'll get a cheque...might I suggest they after the adjuster looks at it and gives you an estimate, he may offer to write you a payment on the spot. This maybe good, might be bad. They should factor cash replacement value to make you whole again. Meaning here is what we say is wrong, here is market value to fix (materials, labor, ect...), and here is our offer. They might not have everything in their estimate

In my rambling I'm trying to say it may be in your best interest to get an independent body shop to give you an estimate to compare to your insurance. Most shops will estimate for free...good luck

Yeah, I've got mine located closer to the mag well too. Much more comfortable.
