I was only planning on the fronts. I'm pretty happy with the darkness of the back. I know 3M has different types of tint (ceramic, color stable, etc.) Did Alta Mere offer any options, or just give you what looked best with the factory tint?

I let them pick...the model # on the receipt is 305, I think that is in-house coding and not a 3m #. Pretty good match to the factory. I think it is metallic, not ceramic. Either way, I'm happy.

When I set up my appointment I told them what I had and what I wanted, reiterated what I wanted at drop off and was happy at pick up.

I'm sure you could go in there and tell them exactly what you want, or look at all the options there (they do have options, not one size fits all kinda shop) and they will accommodate you. I'm no tint expert, so I put my trust in them and ended up satisfied.

That sounds great. I'll be setting up a time to have it done soon. Thanks for all your input.

No problem bud, glad to help...perhaps we'll see you at the next meet!

Barlowrs? Anyone heard from that guy yet?

Ideas for a new meet since the last one kinda fell apart?

Haven't heard from Barlowrs yet... maybe I will send him a PM and see if he got all settled in at work and his new apartment.

I was thinking we could meet up at Famous Dave's (like 21st and Webb I think) for lunch or something.... there is a nice big parking lot there we could loiter in.
Or still down with the grill dogs at a park.

    Josh! How you feeling man?

You should also consider Auto Image at 7215 E. Harry. I just had them tent my windows last week and they look great. I told them I want the front two windows to match the rear tented glass and they said they can do that, but that it is illegal. Because I had 20% on the Camry SE i just traded in, and never had any problems, I wasn't worried.

Anyway, I got my truck back and it looks great. I'm truly impressed. It is more difficult than it sounds to match window tent film to tented glass because you have to add the percentages of the film to the factory window. Some people don't realize the front windows are already tented 2-3% (or whatever it says), so you have to add a 17-18% film to make the end result match the glass. But they nailed it.

I have to admit I was worried that my front windows would come out looking darker than the rear glass, but it didn't.

Also, I'm not sure if they cover warranty work when it is 'illegal' tent but it sounds like they do. I've had the last 4 cars I've owned tented there and it's always been great.

I use them because my brother has been the sales manager at Toyota for the past 8 years and they are picky about where they take their cars. Long story short, Mike Steven mandates they use Steven Motors for Window Tenting, but all friends and family are strongly encouraged to use Auto Image instead. Something I personally like, is that the people working at Auto Image aren't high school kids, it just makes me feel better to have older, more experienced installers in my truck.

As for price, I had my brother set it up and got it at their cost. It was $60.00 for the front two windows with no tax.

You're welcome to look at my truck whenever you like if you are considering them for the job. My girlfriend's car was tented there too and is 20% all the way around as well.

I've never tried Alta Mere, but I'm sure they do a good job too.

Whoever you pick, make sure they know how to match the tent correctly!

    Good luck!

Also, does anybody have an aftermarket head unit installed in their truck?

I spotted a pretty slick rig over in Hutch the other day... BSP DBL CAB Sport with glass front fenders walker evans on all four corners, red letter grabbers and an all pro front bumper. I snapped a few pics, see if I can load em from my phone.

    Edit: can't load pics now...later

I keep seeing a speedway blue, double cab, short box with what looks like a 6" lift running around in Derby.

AND I have seen a lifted, white, regular cab driven by a female.
I think I saw it at one of the other buildings at work but I can't be 100% sure it was the same one.

I'm going on an overnight fishing trip tonight and won't be back in time for the get together. But, I would still like to be at the next one (and hopefully more after that). Thanks for the invite. See you around town.

Troy you live in Derby? My SWB is access cab and not lifted, but I'm in Derby. Tinted tail lights and an Oakley sticker in the back window, I'm all over the place in the Derb.. (my gf drives it a lot too). Plus I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and plasti-dip my wheels tomorrow...
