Only if they can prove that the muffler is what caused a your vehicle to not be performing correctly. ie an exhaust leak.

I am trying to also build a database of what mufflers and tips are going on what vehicles. We eventually hope to be able to add this information to our website in the form of a muffler or tip locator. So A quick question for you guys, how long of a tip can you put on these trucks using the stock tailpipe? In other words, how long is the stock tailpipe piece after the last bend? 12"? 16"? I hope to use this information someday so that if someone wants a recommendation on what exhaust tips to use on their vehicle, that I know which tips will physically fit in the allocated space. Thanks so much for your help on this.

    Not enough.
I dumped mine before the axle with about 1foot of pipe at 45 degrees right off the muffler and at stock height I'd be able to fit up to a 4 to 6 inch tip without it hanging to low from the under carriage.

    Hope it helps some

does the position that you get the muffler mounted in changes it performance at all? vertical as opposed to vertical?

No, I need to know what you can do on the stock pipe. If you do custom pipe there are no rules or limits to what you can do. I need to know what my limitations are for exhaust tips on a stock tailpipe.

I'm going to be using the stock piping to keep my stock tip where its at. only thing I want changed is the muffler that I'm putting in.

Ok, maybe my question is less than clear. If you were to put a stainless tip on the stock tailpipe, I need to know what sizes can fit, what are the limitations. How long can it be? What is the maximum diameter? That way I can know that I can use any tip smaller than the maximum limits that has the correct pipe size.

So from the end of the stock tailpipe to the bend, how much room is there? Also what are the dimensions on the stock muffler?

Width of the end of the stock tailpipe is just over 2 5/8s". This section is 4.5" long where it is just a bit wider than the rest of the pipe as seen in the photo below. Before the final 4.5"s the width if 2.5".

Now you have about 11" of straight pipe after the bend in pipe as seen in the photo below from the outside of the curve.

Photo below is on the inside of the curve. Still about 11" of straight pipe after the curve.

    Muffler is about 9"x10.5"x21.5"

Sorry about the crappy quality. I think the first half of the video I had my rear windows down. Second half I rolled them up.
