What do you guys recommend for the wheels to stick out a bit more?
I just got new tires and rims so upgrading to something wider is not an option
Im thinking wheel spacers but Ive heard there not a good idea but Ive also heard there okay! Im thinking just 1" max to pop out

The kind of offroading I will do is mainly trails and yes this is my daily driver if any of this helps!

ive heard it will wear out wheel barings faster. with only a 1in wheel spacer you should be fine, best et tho would be more off set rims imo

heres my thing...What is the difference between wheel spacers sticking the tires out farther and a different offset rim sticking the wheel out farther?

They achieve the same thing, although lower offset wheels will usually be wider and clear wider calipers.
Higher offset (more backspace) is easier (and better) to balance. If you want a wider stance, Id prefer low offset wheels. They also usually have wider lips.

I was actually referring to wear and tear on bearings. A tire "x" amount of difference from the center by wheel offset or wheel spacer is "x" amount. Therefore same amount of wear and tear. Maybe I'm wrong.

Youre correct. Same leverage on wheel bearings by pushing the wheel out.

Although, IMO, wider and lower offset wheels should create less strain on wheel bearings than narrower wheels on spacers. Same goes with wider vs narrower tires on low offsets. Ofcourse this is my opinion only.

Either way, Id rather run wide stance and replace the bearings down the road. Which I just did under warranty :)

Yeah true about replacing the bearings. However lot of people running spacers and wider wheels so I guess can't be but so bad.

I would get different wheels instead of spacers.

Just put on new wheels and tires. The wheels had 4.5 backspacing which provides a wider stance but doesn't stick out too far. The wider stance looks killer.

Lots of things can and will accelerate wheel bearing failure. Heavier Wheels and tires, smaller offset (Wheels poking out), More weight on the truck, and other small stuff, but the biggest is aggressive driving.

Just about all of the mods we do are around bigger and heavier tires or adding weight onto our Tacomas. I say push them wheels out an inch if you like. So what if you need a wheel bearing at 180,000 miles instead of 250,000 miles? If you want ultimate reliability we wouldn't be messing around off-road anyway.

I've been running Spidertrax for about 15,000 miles now. No issues here... just make sure to use the proper torque settings and loctite if you go that route.

I am not a spacer fan as it's hard to center the wheel...always seems like they are not balanced right!!! I like outset wheels better get the wider look and centered wheels to boot!!!
