A month or so ago my wife was driving my truck and heard a loud squeal. Went on for a few seconds and then stopped. Has not happened since. Warmer weather led me to turn on the ac the other day and it is not cold. Not even remotely. Basically blowing warm or outside equivalent temp. Would the squeal be related? Fluids seem fine.
2003 double cab TRD if any of that maters. Thanks!

Have you checked the ac compressor if it still has its belt?

Not sure on the v6 but my 4cyl has a belt for the power steering and a seperate belt for the ac pump.

Should also make sure all the pulleys spin smooth

Probably the AC idler pulley seized or exploded.

Mine seized then exploded and shot bits of belt everywhere.

Prior to that it happening it was squealing loudly.

Old OEM one is not sealed and is positioned low on the front of the motor. Susceptible to water intrusion especially if you do water crossings. You can see one of the bearings is seized and there are others that grenaded.

New one I suggest is the Nachi one. Made in Japan and fully sealed. No issues since.

So…. How hard is this to replace myself? Do I do the whole compressor and clutch pulley thing or can I just replace the pulley or clutch or…..? Thanks!

Fairly easy. You just replace the bearing from the pulley with the new one.

Mine was the idler pulley that did this too, not the compressor pulley
